Everyone can see our defence is dire except the people that matter, it's shocking.

More the the point we might make him look like Drogba if we are not up to it. He's an average CB playing against a below average defence with two small blokes in front "protecting" it.

Bowery is tall and can win headers.

That's why he's starting. Simple logic.

I know Bent hasn't exactly set the world alight of late, but FFS if he can't get a game ahead of Bowery
He'll be playing Bowery wide, I presume.

Exactly,
Don't know if it will work, time will tell, but at least he is doing something about our set piece defensive problems,
Nothing to do with Bowery over Bent more to do with Height in defensive situations

Listen I'm not saying it will work, just saying that's the logic behind him playing, have you not seen how shit we are at corners/fre kicks ?

Set piece defending isn't just for CBs.

I read that formation as 4-2-3-1 with Bowery and Weimann wide and Zog behind Benteke. Good plan I think, though we could probably have done with cylla in midfield to give us some fight.

Come on villa!
