People are already voting with their feet. Just over 1000 tickets sold for tomorrow and 900 sold for Arsenal(so far)

Yeah interesting thread.

Reminds me of a Wolves fan I know. This time last year he couldn't wait to get relegated and actively celebrated it when Man. City sent them down last April as in his words "it's more fun and more chance of winning games in the championship" So far Wolves are in the bottom 6 and I think have won 4/14 at Molinueux.

Am meeting him next week so will ask for an update....

The championsip will only be fun if we're winning most weeks. I said last season I'd take relegation if we could romp the championship and then re-establish ourselves in the prem like Newcastle did and I guess that still stands.

My guess is we'd string together an o.k squad to get into the play offs and knowing us probably lose in the final to Millwall or someone.

Are we likely to have more Saturday 3pm KO s in the championship ?
That would be 1 positive at least

On balance I'm not sure. 23 games but as I've already said probably about 6/7 of them will be midweek fixtures.

Also take a look at Newcastle and West Ham year's in the championship and a lot of them were moved for tv as there's always a 5.20 game on Sky on a saturday so given we'd be the biggest name in that division, I would imagine Sky would show some of the games.

Great posts by PGW and also MalcolmP on the first page btw.

Not surprising though is it? Most people now accept we are down, this stems primarily from the club openly telling us we are going to be relegated when they didnt sign the players required to make a fight of staying up.

The club has given up, its hard to see why fans should make the effort and expense in the final run of the season to go and watch us lose all the time.

Maybe next season things will pick up again. Its a shame because as the Bradford game showed, Villa fans are just waiting to show up in numbers given any kind of hope , but the club has been adamant that in the league its about cost cutting in preparation for the championship not trying to go up or compete for anything.

I think we will stay up, there I've said it.

I'm sure I'll get shot down but I genuinely do. Call it blind faith, ignorance, denial or whatever, I just do.

Definitely renew if we stay up definitely not if we go down its that simple - will pick and choose games to go to as should be plenty of local derbies and plenty of seats to choose from !

There's a few bullshitters about.  Not referring to the previous post, by the way, just some earlier ones.

The last two seasons have been dismal - I can count the number of games I have enjoyed on one hand - that`s not good . Going to the game should be fun not a chore. The 200 mile round trip has not been worthwhile for quite some time - stopping on the way home for a decent Balti softens the blow a little.
Will I renew ? With the rising costs of fuel etc I don`t think I can longer justify the outlay - so probably not.
The away games (North West - Burnley, Bolton, Blackburn etc) will probably the only way I get to see the Villa "live"

No. You'll have to make your own mind up. I saw it on the Millwall thread and it is here again.

The most rewarding part of a trip to B6 at the moment is on the way home. When you get to J17 of the M6, they have new cats eyes in the road, so when you put your foot down, its a bit like being in Tron.

Bad times.

I'll be renewing come what may. I just hope drug crime or something increases in Cheshire so they have to spend money on that instead of collaring motorists at 1am.
