Game today with Wigan is massive, really need Spuds to do em. Then we can relax a bit more and stuff the Mackems, a team whose supporters I respect immensely from 74/5 and 80/1. their team is likely to be along the lines of Minnolet, Colback, Carlos, O'Shea, Rose, Johnson, Larson, Some big black french lad, Mclean, Graham, Sessignon. FFS, that is a pile of shite, even our shite aint that bad. They were lucky at Newcastle and Everton should have sneaked a draw last week. Lets chase every fecking ball, dont give them time and our superior class will tell

That same pile of shite has been above your "superior classed but not as bad shite" in the table for the majority of the season marra!

Didnt think I was being disrespectful of Sunderland as a club, far from it actually, but I stick by the comments that the team is shite and even our shite aint as bad :)

Emphatic Victory last night apart, league table still shows otherwise. Though i concede with losing Sess i can't see this staying this way for much longer.  :)

As I thought I put in my initial comment, have no axe to grind with Sunderland Davey, and I agree we have been poor at times this season. However, Lambert has a plan and IF, and it is still a big if, we stay up this season, I think the future looks quite bright for Villa. As for Sunderland, Im not sure MON's signings were that good (quite liked the look of the big French lad in midfield for you last night, he kept battling when others had given up) and they werent exactly signings for the future. Di Canio will need to rebuild in much the same way like Lambert has. Please dont take offence to my initial comment, as for Sessognon, have seen worse tackles not get a red card, but dont think he will win appeal but think you will be fine. Newcastle have two tough games and then QPR away, who may well now relax and show they can play football. Lets hope so eh :)

No offence taken marra, genuinelly never thought you had an axe to grind with us, just couldn't understand the reasoning behind your original statement given the season both teams have "endured!" I've seen plenty "shite" from us over the years to know this season we have just been poor, lol! Take anything we served up under Howard Wilkinson, Lawrie McMenemy, Terry Butcher or Mick Buxton. The worst i've seen was under Wilkinson, a home game v the mighty Charlton Athletic where we lost 3 v 1, and we scored ALL of the goals. The three own goals were scored within 8 minutes. That was as bad as it gets!

The five signings made by MON were, bar one, improvements to what we had imho. All, bar Cuellar, are youngish, mid 20's, though Danny Graham is around 28. The big French lad is Alfred N'Diaye. Yeah, he's done well for us as far as i'm concerned, but he's not the finished article just yet. The rebuilding has been needed since Bruce's faltering reign, but Ellis Short is, quite rightly, wanting better value for money to what we have been getting in his opinion. Understandable as he's the one footing the bill! I'm worried about the loss of Sess, coupled with the drubbing from you and it having a knock-on effect impacting on the team confidence for the run-in. He is our most creative and exciting player, his loss is quite a blow. But, as i said elsewhere on here, this is where we'll find out how we respond under the new regime.

You will beat stoke and be safe on Saturday davey, cant say same for Norwich and Newcastle though.

I hope so Mark, though unless it's a Gardner penna, without Sess i don't see where our goals are coming from. We could do with Danny Graham getting on the sheet!  :-\

If Sunderland lose the Sessegnon appeal then it's going to be really tough for them because i don't rate Danny Graham at all. I did'nt see what the fuss was about when he was at Swansea either. The one thing they could do is play 5 in midfield and try and pick up a few draws along the way and against Stoke might be the ideal time to do that.

Wasnt aware they had appealed but theres no way i can see that being overturned - I'm sure the ban will stay.

All we heard in the run up was that Di Canio was going to have them up for Monday. I'm sure Sunderland will be fine but i'd take nothing for granted.

As long as we keep winning, I wouldn't mind seeing Wigan get some wins also as that could drag Stoke back into it.  They and Southampton both play Spurs and Sunderland, so if Sunderland win those games they're stuck on 40, presuming Spurs win as expected, with Southampton on 39, and they play each other the last day.  Wigan would need to beat Swansea and WBA first, as I think they'll lose to Arsenal, putting them on 38.  As long as we're safe (beat Norwich and then face a weakened Chelsea side), that could make for an exciting finish.

If we beat Norwich then i can't see them reaching 40 points and  think it will be between them and wigan- stoke with 40 are already safe in my view with their goal difference, and I think newcastle will get the points at qpr.

Done the predictor and here's what I've got at the bottom going into the last day and the games that matter:-

Sunderland 41 (-11)
Stoke 41 (-11)
Villa 41 (-20)
Southampton 39 (-13)
Norwich 39 (-23)
Newcastle 38 (-24)
Wigan 36 (-25)

Man City  v  Norwich
Newcastle  v  Arsenal
Southampton  v  Stoke
Tottenham  v  Sunderland
Wigan  v  Aston Villa

Obviously, Villa upwards are safe, as Southampton should be.  You've got to fancy both Norwich and Newcastle to lose, which would mean Norwich are safe.  So it would be a case of our result determining whether Wigan or Newcastle stay up.  Wouldn't that be nice?

If Wigan lose away this weekend thats them gone I think. Stoke will put 25 men behind the ball at Sunderland to get a 0-0. That put stoke 9 points in front of Wigan with a much better goal difference, so they'll be safe. If we win then Wigan need to beat Arsenal. In fact if we win and Newcastle and Wigan both lose, as long as Arsenal pick up more than 1 point from their last 2 games were safe

If and if it is a big, big if, we win this weekend then I think Norwich are well and truly doomed. Something I have been saying for a long time about them. They have looked ropey for a long time, and goals are difficult. They will probably beat us now as we will have our heads in the clouds, but if we win, they are in trouble. Albion are playing well, and away at Man City last up? Could be a really fun last day as long as we are home and dry!

Biggest game of the weekend is Wigan at Albion though for the league really, if they lose, they are gone.
