Oh dear, am listening to Doogan on WM right now and no wonder the club is in the mess it is ,if he is any thing to go by .According to him everything at VP is not really so  bad,we just have to be patient. This bloke should be on Question time the way he actually fails to answer anything.

Just another in the long line of yes men.

Doogan was brought in by O'Neill.

Good mates.

I didn't hear the interview but would be interested to know, was he wheeled out to placate things following the questions being posed by the mail this week, or was he due to be on anyway?

Because, if it WAS in response to the mail questions, at least it means the article registered with the club, which must be good...mustn't it?

He was Midlands reporter for the Express when MON was at Leicester, later went onto the Sunday Times and then left journalism to join us.

He wasn't happy when his mate waltzed off and left him.

In response to the Mail front page not the questions.

My theory is that he was wheeled out in a hurry because the club (ie probably him) realised that this week in the biggest local newspaper, we have had two stories about Villa.

One was the manager saying how the owner had told him his job is safe, even if we go down.

The other was the manager replying to "are there any irons in the fire?" with "nope", and "are you confident of getting people in?" with "not really".

Those two stories, which might not be particularly noteworthy on their own, combined in the same week to produce a view of the club which was really not very impressive.

Has it become normal for clubs to send out PR men for interviews? Have I missed something, as I can't think of an analogous situation with another club? Surely it is normally the owner, chief executive, manager, or member of the coaching or playing staff that deals with these things.

Perhaps he couldn't come up with any responses that would reflect terribly well on Lerner or Villa.

Blimey shows how much I keep track of that side of the club, I thought Phil Mepham still did the PR!

Not on the night of a match.

If the club thought things were so bad why wasn't PF brought up to the plate.I can see a double sacking taking place.
