We had Bent and then Benteke as centre-forward, injuries permitting, for his first four years here. Fill yer boots time for any winger worthy of the name. An absolute waster in a Villa shirt, and only he knows why.

Managers say a lot of things when they have young players. I'm sure we've heard Westwood described as a real talent and future England international laughably. Nzog scored 9 in about 200 games at Newcastle, crap. He scored 9 in the season before we bought him, 5 of them in the last 6 games. He was linked to Blues before us, because he is and always was blues. We got conned, buying another player with little substance on the back of a good run.

He was also linked with Arsenal and Liverpool.

Also, there is a difference between Lambert and Sherwood bigging someone up, and one of the best, most respected managers this country has ever seen doing it.

My favourite thing about N'Zogbia is what Joe Kinnear said about him when he was manager at Newcastle.

He said that every day at training he'd tell him his agent had said that Man Utd, Arsenal, Real Madrid etc were all keen to sign him and not wanting to stand in his way he naturally had to sell him. To Wigan.

Maradonna was once linked with the rags.

We're after Messi.

That's about as accurate as the Maradona and sha crap. It was never even remotely on in a million years.

TSM was committed to buying him, after being refused permission by the Blouse hairdresser. It didn;t really matter what form he was in; it became an obsession for TSM. we were simply complicit.
Sad - he had one decent half-season; that was it.

It's much like Ireland. Awful signings that show how incompetent we are, conveniently forgetting that most of us on here were delighted with both*, especially Ireland. Ireland was the signing of the decade and we had royally mugged Man City.

*Cue folks having the urge to say "well not me" despite the most of us bit.

yep, your quite right
I thought Ireland was a great signing at the time, he was going to run the midfield for us and bomb through everyones defence at will
I didn't know much about Nzogbia so didn't have a strong view on him if I'm honest,
but just went with the very knowledgeable posters on here who were fortelling the great things to come and how we fucking laughed at Sunderland

When you think about the amount of 'never lived up to their huge potential because of attitude' players we've had over the years, we've really had our share haven't we? Milosevic, Curcic, Collymore, Baros, Atkinson, Ireland, N'Zogbia... have I missed anyone?
