About to lose our Sponsorship deal...
« on: January 20, 2013, 04:53:44 AM »
Mirror are reporting that Genting deal expires this summer and they are not going to renew as we are in another relegation battle...

http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/troubled-aston-villa-are-set-to-lose-1545399?

So if we do go down its not just the PL money we will loose....

It still makes me laugh when I remember someone saying on these pages that Genting sounded like some sort of upper class homosexual act.

Agree - any sponsor that can't be on a kids shirt has no place in football.

Its not about the brand its about the money coming into villa...

with all these relegation battles it doesn't matter who sponsors us we wont get the same amount of money... regardless of if we stay up or go down.

This bad on pitch lark is now affecting the money coming in.. which in turn will devalue club impacting amount invested... and we are desperate for investment!

The Genting deal was only ever going to be 2 years...the club were well of this and have been looking for a sponsor for about a year now - it's no surprise to them. They are, however, struggling to find a new one and I think a Wembley appearance and hopefully win is what they're hoping will give us the profile we need to get a decent tie in.

The big problem they have us that prospective sponsors don't know what division we will be in. That is key.

like i said even if we stay up, not going to get big sponsorship... as we are not a bottom half club!

Its a catch 22... value of club will go down so lerner wont sell or invest... but wothout the investment we wont climb up the ague earning the big sponsorship!

just feels like nothing is going right...

We don't exactly attract big sponsors anyway which is one of the reasons we were able to do the Acorns thing for a few seasons.

IF we get relegated all commercial income will fall. No point in reading too much into a deal that is about to expire anyway and a lazy piece of journalism.

What do you mean by "big"?

The Genting deal is one of the biggest in the league. They also might not be a household name here, but they are an enormous company.

I for one will be glad to see a chinese gambling organization purged from our identity.

The country is awash with exploitation.   Bookmakers who became established on the perfectly honourable habits of the masses having a flutter on the horses have spawned mini casinos in every shopping street in the land.   They are no better than pay day loan sharks and are all off shore to avoid paying British taxes.

Aston Villa does not need to get in whatever money it can at all costs.   It needs the mega wealthy man who owns it to support it properly and the people who spend the club's money to spend it more wisely.

IIRC the deal is/was £16m over two seasons, pretty small when compared to the Sky money.
