I'm still flummoxed on why Lambert felt he had to go out all attack and out attack on a side who had previously beaten Wigan and Arsenal .I thought it showed a complete lack of respect to Bradford. We got everything we deserved today.

Probably because we haven't got a clue how to defend.

Not one Bradford fan in the pub afterwards thought they would win the replay.  We need to win 2 - 0 minimum and we're through.  We might do that with Bannan and Delph in the middle but we'd have a far better chance if we didn't.  Bennet isn't our answer to the left back position either.

We will qualify, I am pretty sure of that. 3-1 is a bad result for us, especially given the timing of the third, but it's not enough for them.

Personally, I am more worried that the feebleness in midfield and defence still persists even when we're playing a shit league two side (and yes, they beat Arsenal, but after penalities, and after Arsenal had hit the post 12,000 times).

Well Lambert's not a dead man walking but he's in the cell having the final rites read. Outplayed and outfought by a load of arse. A lot of people unfortunately had already booked  tickets for the final in their minds, as had probably Lerner so he's really going to pull something out the hat in the 2nd leg or he's history.

Rest assured PL will still be in charge when we go down.
WE ARE NOT GOING FUCKING DOWN. >:(
Is it possible go down without fucking?

Nah, you need something fun to ward off the misery of relegation

More concerned with Saturday to be honest than the 2nd leg. Really an expensive day out in North London to see us get smashed by Chelsea. I really don't need that.

But we'll be there all the same eh.....
Not cancelling the hotel room just yet

As someone pointed out, if we don't get there, we'll be playing at Arsenal in the league anyway, so no reason to cancel.

Shockingly disrespectful to a funny post.

it was a funny post and not the most bright of responses, but shockingly disrespectful? Ha ha ha.

No. haha.  Well not as shockingly disrespectful as what happened on the pitch.

Just got in. Oh dear what an utter shambles.  Is it too early for the "Spirit of 94" thread yet?

I didn't see the Arsenal game v them but the consensus was that we were far better.

Anyway, fuck off Delph and fuck off Bannan.  In fact, fuck off midfield, if you just cut them out and launched it for 90 mins against an average 4th div side we'd have beaten them on the law of scuffs, dinks and skewed headers falling to forwards in scoring positions.

I know it's a fairly useless point to make, but my god do we miss Stan nowadays. The most understated player I can remember at the Villa, but I feel his experience, influence and general attitude of genuinely giving a shit about us would be a massive boost now.

The only thing I think might help us is that now the inferior side are favourites to go through.  We now have nothing to lose (as we've already lost it).  I'm not sure they'll know how to deal with that.

I didn't want to comment immediately after the game, I wanted to calm down a little first. A few have commented on the 'Spirit of 94', the big difference with the team of 94 is they had passion, fight, experience, resilience and experience. They also had pride in their performance. That lot, sitting on their first class executive coach from Yorkshire - how many of them will be hurting from that performance? I'm not talking about being a bit pissed off for an hour or so, but genuinely hurting by the fact they've been beaten by a team that lost to fucking Barnet at the weekend.
Irrespective of the age of our players. Any player, representing Aston Villa should NEVER lose a game of football to a team in the 4th tier of English football. The players were fucking diabolical, the bastard lot of 'em. I don't give a shit how old they are, how inexperienced they are. We, as fans need to stop blaming O'Neill, Houllier, McLeish, Randy or Paul Faulkner or any other person associated with managing Villa, how about the players actually taking some responsibility for their piss poor performances? They aren't kids, they are professionals. It's time for them to start acting like it. They're happy to take their obscene wages everyweek.

Just back. They were good value for their win and that we resorted to lumping the ball from the back to Benteke spoke volumes. Our team looked unbalanced on paper and so it was in practice, Delph and Bannan playing as deep as the centre halves, the full backs in awful form in both halves and the forwards standing around waiting for something to happen. I dont suppose anyone can add anything to a debate about our defending from corners, shambolic.

We were just outfought and outplayed, the only glimmer we have is that shit as we were, we still had enough chances to get something from the game.

Humiliating.

Kevin Richardson springs to mind.Didn't think he was a player until he left.

I've said to my other half that if at any point I try to tell anybody I'm a Villa fan, she's to kick me in the shin so I don't have to do the gritted teeth/embarrassment/yes I know we're shite thing.
