I'm still flummoxed on why Lambert felt he had to go out all attack and out attack on a side who had previously beaten Wigan and Arsenal .I thought it showed a complete lack of respect to Bradford. We got everything we deserved today.

Been waiting for the team coach to turn up here but nothing so far. So asked the staff at reception and they said team stayed here last night and checked out at 5.30 today. So they are on their way back to Brum but I bet they won't be in training tomorrow.

There is not much more to say that hasn't been said already.

It was a very bad result and there were very few (if any) Villa players that came out of that match with any credit.  I know people have their favourites and their least liked but some of the criticism of individuals (especially the younger players who lack experience) is over the top (in my opinion), when, after all, it is a team game.  Whether you call it individual mistakes, lack of concentration, lack of urgency to get out to defend the second ball, lack of conviction or what, we gave away 3 very poor goals.

We created as many chances in that game as we probably have in the last six and their goalkeeper was given the MOTM.  Everything that seems possible to go wrong in a match, is going wrong.  Oh for a little bit of luck at the moment.  Saying that, this only glosses over what I said in the paragraph before.

We are lacking any strength in the team, whether it is physical or mental, we are very weak in midfield and defence.  The manager has to act quickly (and be backed by Lerner) to go out and buy (possibly better if they are loans) two short term experienced defenders that can organise two young fullbacks and the midfield infront of them.  I think he could do a lot worse than go out and try and pair up Johnson and Dann again.  This would be a low cost option but could work.

Also, he needs to buy somebody for the centre of midfield that can sit there and organise and control that area of the pitch and provide the link between the defence and the forwards, he does not have to be a world beater.

As this post is screened it is officially now the day after and just like waking up with a fat bird from the night before, I'm going to shrug off last nights events and consign them to history.

Not one Bradford fan in the pub afterwards thought they would win the replay.  We need to win 2 - 0 minimum and we're through.  We might do that with Bannan and Delph in the middle but we'd have a far better chance if we didn't.  Bennet isn't our answer to the left back position either.

More concerned with Saturday to be honest than the 2nd leg. Really an expensive day out in North London to see us get smashed by Chelsea. I really don't need that.

But we'll be there all the same eh.....
Not cancelling the hotel room just yet
