F.A Cup 4th Round - Millwall away

One of the coaches was stuck in traffic and some Millwall fans opened the door. The little bloke at the front, who would be well known to regular away fans, shot off at the sight of them but they didn't board the coach. Absolutely no Police escort in or out of there with all the Police and stewards doing a wonderful job in the safety of the coach park. Don't get me wrong, there was no threat to our coach but you just got the feeling, especially on the way there that it could easily have kicked off.

How did you get to the game, Clampy? Difficult journey as it was, was glad we went on the coach.

Travelled down with Black Country Villains as always. I'm not sure if you noticed a white mini bus parked with the coaches but we were on that.

Yes it is. It's normally a coach but there was only a few of us tonight.

If Millwall is still the same dangerous intimidating place it was, then Villa are still Champions of Europe. Things have moved on for all of us.

No unfortunatley. Once we hit London, the traffic was horrendous.

Towards the end of half time out back, I notoced the riot police move in and a few minutes later a lot of Villa emerge from another exit and then started to surge around the back trying to get through the fence at the Millwall asbo lot on the left hand side.

The copper told me that they had been following this particular group around all afternoon and there had been an altercation with a lot of Halesowen Villa and Millwall prior to the game.

There were a lot of blokes amongst our support, about five women and no children. A lot of Stone Island.

It must cost Millwall a fortune to be policed like that a minimum of 24 times a season. They could probably buy some new players with the cash.

I ended up driving and didn't see any Millwall after the game. They were up on the station apparently. Too many trips to the true crime section at Waterstones and Danny Dyer has much to answer for.

The copper was saying that the trouble away from the ground is caused by the kids from the estate who are provided with cheap tickets, while the older lot tend to go looking for Tottenham, Palace, West Ham and Arsenal when Millwall are away.

Its not up there with the Sty on derby day for feeling the squeeze. I would say its more like a zoo.

In my innocent youth I used to go to Villa & away games with the Ley Hill mob, I had no idea what they got up to, it was a bunch of lads to get on a bus into & out of town with from Northfield who took me under their wing as a young out of town Villa fan from London.  My Nan used to live on Ley Hill so whenever I was there these nice young men would take me along to Villa.  Honest!
