this could be a miserable start to the weekend. can't ever recall a Friday night game before

Home game in the 80's against Liverpool. We lost 3-0 :'(

Wasn't that the game on a rock hard pitch where Ian "it was like a foreign country" Rush scored a hat trick. I thought it ended 4-2?

If it wasn't for tv, that game would never have been played. We have also played against Oxford and Middlesbrough at home on Friday nights if my memory serves correct. I know the Oxford one was in the season that we played Hartlepool in the League Cup as that was staged on an unusual night.

A bit more info on why the game has been moved to tomorrow

Good on Millwall.

We'll be on the demo on Saturday, me and the kids in our Villa scarves

Can't wait to hear you've been pepper sprayed at the demo yet got out the Den unscathed.

I can, it was rubbish, we lost at home to Liverpool and shouldnt have been played because of the weather.

Did we play Albion at home in division 2, late 80s on a Friday night? Or did I just imagine that?

We did. 0-0. The game before Christmas.

Birchy hit the bar and they brought a couple of busloads.

We also beat Wolves 2-0 on a Friday night in the late 70s - a very underrated 20 yard own goal by Colin Brazier (I think), which was actually an overhit back pass. A beautiful way of undoing a negative Wolves team.

We have had a few games on the eve of the FA Cup final too. We played QPR before the 1976 or 1977 cup final. And who could forget the 3-0 thumping of Swansea on the Friday night before Rotterdam?

I have a very vague recollection of a Friday game in Division 2 (as was) against Oxford in the late 60s, but I may have dreamt this. For some reason I have convinced myself Geoff Crudgington played in goal.

We also played Bristol Rovers at Eastville in the FA Cup on a Friday night. Won 2-1. The season we went to West Ham in the quarter final.

Another Friday evening game, which I was at, was the final game of the 1969-70 season at home to Sheff Utd on 10th April. Despite winning 1-0 we were relegated to Division 3 for the first time in our history. This was just 6 days after the infamous match at Leicester, which we lost 1-0, with a 'goal' which we scored being disallowed because the ball hit a stanchion at the back of the goal and rebounded back into play, without either the referee or linesman at that end seeing what had happened.

Also (I was there) Chesterfield at home two seasons later, 1971-72, again last match of season, on 5th May. We won 1-0 in front of a crowd of 45,567 and were promoted back to Division 2, finishing as Champions of Division 3.

Spot on, Jon; Friday 29th November, being four days after we played Hartlepool, and eight days after the Pub Bombings.

And nobody has ever answered why.

Sorry if I've missed it but can anyone advise me about this train from london bridge to south bermondsey? Do the old bill escort us onto it at lb, or is it every man for himself?
