Froch would not have been stopped if he was in Grove's condition in the ninth. Not a chance.
As I've said before, watch the way Groves falls into the ref as it's being stopped, he was gone as far as I'm concerned, the ref shouldn't have stopped it by any means but I think Froch would've won it if it hadn't been stopped. Groves was looking good whilst he was quicker than Froch, but in the 8th and 9th you could see the pace of it was getting to him and he slowed down quite a bit, Froch saw it as well, which is why he started going heavy at him. Even if Groves had got to the bell there's no chance he was lasting another 3 rounds after that. Most people thought Groves would start well and Froch would take over later in the fight, with round 5 being the common choice, it took a bit longer and Groves started better than anyone expected but once Froch was still going after 7-8 he was always going to start to dominate.

What the hell was that about? It was almost as if the ref was saying "Go on Carl, give him a cheeky dig in the ribs while i'm holding him"The more I look at it, the worse it gets. I struggle to recall a stoppage as flimsy as this one
