I was very pleased with N'Zogbia. Is he finally paying us back? He looked a lot more interested than before.
Bannan's passing left a lot to be desired.
Bennett deserved his Man of the Match.
Bent took his chance very well. Weimann deadly finishing.
All in all a good warm up for Tuesday.
Nice to see some quality, in the form of Gabby, come on as a sub.

In the next round, job done. Let's hope we can kick on now hopefully with a strengthened squad.
Weiman really knows where the goal is. We've got a player there.

Impressed with Delph's performance, the best I've seen from him.Bennett and the returning N'zogbia ,Bent and Gabby also played well. And ,of course, another class goal from Weimann. How can anyone doubt his ability ? There were some weak points, but it's good to see options becoming available. Reo-Coker was awful ,seems to be getting slower.Failed badly the audition.

Lijcah and Albrighton are woeful, as is Bannan. His delivery is shocking.

On the plus it was great to see Bent, Gabby and Charlie back, the later I thought really offered us something to continue on from a good show at Norwich. We need a bit of pace and flair in the midfield and he did well.

A lovely finish from Bent and from Andi too. We have some really good forwards, if only we had a midfield to support them.

Baker and Clarke were all over the shop at times. When Baker was pushing up, Clarke was dropping in; we need a centre half to offer some leadership and cohesion. I wish Vlaar would hurry up!

Great to have Gabby back, again some pace and also some muscle out wide.

Pleased to be through.

What a fantastic feeling to be reading such positive comments. We can all have an enjoyable Saturday night for the first time in a couple of weeks.

Well done players, and well done Paul Lambert

Oh and respect to the Ipswich fans for their reaction to the 19th minute. Although they do seem a tad obsessed with Lambert. I understand them giving him some stick for the Norwich connection but it seemed every other song was about him.

Nice little win to regain momentum as we head into a month of colossal importance, with two league cup semis, two home games against teams around us, and an away-day derby.

They don't like Colchester United either.

I was in Trinity middle & muddle today so had a good look at both Bennett and Bowery in the first half. Bennett will develop in a fine player but made a few errors and should not  have the pressure of our first choice left back at the moment.
Bowery on the other hand, yes I know he is a big lad, appears to carrying far too much weight.  He did have our  two best chances in the first half and for the first one when Bent laid it on a plate he was fat too slow getting there.
I thought Delph was very good today but all that  in the first half as I had to leave at HT due to a family emergency. (nothing serious)

Along with others - special mention to Shay Given - kept us in the cup today.

Pleased to be in the hat. A royal mixed bag really. Bennett, Wiemann and Bowery put in good performances. I thought Ireland, Baker and Delph were awful.

Ireland contributed nothing, Baker was error prone and Delph looked pretty but never seemed to do anything with the ball except pass to the linesman, an Ipswich Town player or backwards.

Wiemann appears to be the most naturally gifted striker we have had since Yorke. Bowery really put himself about and worked very hard tracking back.

Ireland, Albrighton and Lichaj all need moving on. The others all performed well today though we still look shaky at the back.

Came back home to watch this one and really enjoyed it. We were ok in the first half but very good in the second. I much prefer the 4231 though its hard to see where bent fits in.

Main positives were bent especially in the second half, Bennett (he nearly scored a wonder goal) weimann, delph and gabby being back. It's a nice outlet to have. Plus shay given of course

Downsides were that we still looked very vulnerable at the back. Not sure what baker was doing for their goal. And we almost conceded at the end from a simple lobbed ball.

I really did think that delph and Bennett had the quick feet that sets players apart. But they do need to improve other aspects of their game. They're both still physically intimidated at times.
