Buttler has joined Lancashire. I would have liked to see him sign for the Bears.

Yes - in the Championship it was 31.29 with the bat and 30.02 with the ball.

I was a tad disappointed today to see that Maurice Chambers has declined Bears offer of a 2 year contract and decided to sign 2 year deal at Northants. Competition for places would have been good next season if all were fit.

Stef Piolet went out to Sussex on loan last season but was then recalled by Bears due to injury crisis. Well he has now been released from the last year
of his contract and yesterday signed a one year deal with a return to Sussex.    Good luck.

See Warwickshire are to be called the Birmingham Bears for next years T20. What do their fans think of that? For many I guess not much.

Who was it who thought we ought to be called Birmingham Villa to help promote the region?

To me they will still just be ''The Bears'' to me whatever format of the game we are playing, i certainly won't be singing any version of ''Come on you Birmingham Bears''.

This has nothing do to with Warwickshire owing the council a shit load of money.
I heard Povey on C&W and he was asked if he had asked the members about the name change
'No' was the answer.
25% of members don't live in Birmingham, way to go fella.
You could see this happening when they got rid of the County membership and don't get me started on losing test matches.

Warwickshire to be Birmingham Bears in T20 Blast

Warwickshire have confirmed they will be known as the Birmingham Bears in next summer's T20 Blast tournament.

The county will still be known by their traditional name in both four-day and 50-over formats.

Bears chief executive Colin Povey told the club website: "Adopting the Birmingham Bears name presents a great opportunity to engage even more closely with fans at the heart of the city.

"Birmingham and Edgbaston has been the club's home since 1886."

He added: "Asian families, businessmen and women working in the city's commercial districts and local cricket clubs are three particular audiences the club is seeking to work with more next season."

Five of the Bears' T20 fixtures at Edgbaston will be played on Friday nights.

And Councillor Ian Ward, deputy leader of Birmingham City Council, added: "The Birmingham Bears T20 team is an incredibly exciting proposition that can unite sports fans across the city on Friday evenings next summer.

"The club and the redeveloped stadium provide so many great opportunities for the local communities to play and watch world-class cricket here in Birmingham, and I'm looking forward to seeing people get behind the Bears."

They have changed the name to unite a city of cricket watchers? Piss off!

We are still Gloucestershire Gladiators. Why? We couldnt think of another name beginning with G.
