Ah well, they've lost both wickets anyway.

Bears require 174 runs to win - which seems unlikely unless we treat it like a 20/20 match.

Cleaned them up at last, 174 to win. We have to give it a go, but weather in the distance not looking great.

Match drawn. Have to be satisfied with a moral victory.

Decent set of results for Yorkshire with Durham and Sussex losing. Hopefully Jacques will be fit and available fo the run in and Root, Bairstow and Bresnan will be dropped by England as I keep reading how poor they are along with the rest of the England team.

Lees must be some prospect. 20 years old, 9 (I think) championship games and has a double century and a century to his name as well as a few other decent scores. Not a bad start.

I was chatting to a chap who has been watching Yorkshire since the fifties and now works for them and he spoke very highly of Lees but reckoned there's a 16 year old who has already scored a century for the Academy who is the best he's seen, can't remember his name though!

Taking it a bit personally aren't you? Bairstow is not good enough and Bresnan hasn't performed consistently enough and should also be dropped. I think we pushed Root up to open too soon but there's no other place for him so I'd keep him there.

Not taking it personally at all, they say a strong Yorkshire side means a strong England team, I'd love to see us win the championship coupled with an Ashes victory. Just happen to think a lot of miseries on the Cricket thread are very quick to criticise.

Aren't they just!
Imagine what a cricket thread on here would have looked like when England were truly shite.

Bairstow's place in the team in this series is not unlike Bell's selection in 2005. Perseverance with Bell wasn't exactly a waste of time and didn't do the team much harm either.

In the current series Bairstow has scored more runs than either Cook or Trott.

Absolutely, people have very short memories. The only reason I'm able to comment on the abilities of Root and Bairstow is because I've watched them both since they broke into the Yorkshire team, I couldn't comment on whether Compton or any of the other names who have been mentioned are any better because I haven't seen them play on a regular basis.

I doubt very much whether I will have the pleasure of watching Root playing for Yorkshire many times for the next 10 years.

Embarrassing defeat against the Netherlands looming. We need 34 off 10 balls with two wickets left.

No chance.
