Interesting report on Cricinfo. I like the imaginative captaincy by Chopra. That's refreshing to see.

People on here and in press are starting to talk up Bears chances of retaining title, decided to look at current state of play.
Top of league Sussex are i imagine gonna lose at home to Middx (229 & 14-1 v 496 Middx) thereby only taking 3 points out of game, Yorkshire on the other hand look like getting maximum points as they will thrash Derby by an innings so after currwnt round of games the table will read:
Yorks P10      Pts 149
Suss  P 11     Pts  143
Durham P9    Pts 129.5
Bears P10     Pts  112
We have to play Sussex at home on 28/8 and Yorks away on 2/8, currently 37 points behind Yorks so we must beat them and Sussex to have any chance at all of catching them, we have played Durham twice already. Our other games are against a struggling Somerset side at home (20/8) Notts away 03/09 whom we have just beaten, Surrey home 17/9 who are currently in 2nd relegation space plus last of all Derby away 24/09 who are rock bottom.
I suppose we could win those last 3, how many draws can we afford to take, what effect will weather have in late September.

I will remain hopeful but i think the title is out of reach. At least i'm writing about the top of the league rather than the relegation battle which we were involved in only a couple of games ago.

Also says why we didn't enforce the follow-on:-

"We had to be patient in this game. On wickets like this at Edgbaston, trying to get 20 wickets is always very difficult. Against Lancashire we made them follow-on and they batted out the day.

"We didn't enforce here and it was always in the back of your mind that it might have been the wrong decision but we felt if we added a few more runs to give us a big lead to work with and the wicket might deteriorate a bit more and that would be to our advantage with an international spinner in the side."
