Too many players who are not good enough.

Too much expected of too many young players.

A squad that really belongs in the Championship.

Major investment required in January, or we're in very deep trouble.

Our first 11 is good enough to be lower mid table while the kids learn, but losing so many at once has really killed us.

a side that would include Vlaar, Gabby, Petrov, Dunne, Bent used properly mixed in with the right kids would not be in this much trouble.

It doesn't matter though, because one and possibly two of those were never going to play. We need a much better squad.

Can we register Jack Woodward to play in our midfield. He scares the hell out of me so might be good to scare the opposition !

Benteke is the Inzaghi of offsides

Has he been onside for a villa attack in three games?

a fully fit 1st 11 is easily good enough to finish 1/2 way or higher, but...........................

That's just it, though. A fully fit first 11, something no team goes through a whole season with.

I disagree. We've next to no quality, and too many kids.

I think the depth is the issue. We would not be winning at places like Liverpool if the first 11 was no use. The problem is they can't cope with too many out

It showed that we can play to a certain standard when literally everything goes right and that includes the opposition being inept in front of goal. We don't have the guns to perform to that level (by that level I mean mid table Prem standards) when the squad has been shredded by injuries and the opposition take their chances. I would argue that had we played Wigan after Liverpool we'd batter them. Instead we played Chelsea were ruthless in every sense and tore us to pieces.

We had pretty much the same team out against Liverpool, only changes are Bennett for Baker and Ireland for Westwood, the latter of which is unforced.  Liverpool was a freak result in a game where they missed chances are our front two who do have genuine potential clicked at the same time.  I think we are well past the point of looking back on the Liverpool game as some sort of sign that we are really infinitely better than the pile of cack we are at the moment.
