One thing the last two games have done is totally slam the nail through the brain of the "we can do this with kids" nonsense.

We were always going to struggle relying on so many of them, and we were particularly going to find it hard to bounce back from a trouncing like Chelsea with them. Who do they look to for leadership in the dressing room?

I agree with this. We need both depth and some experience. Quickly. But we do have a core of young players that have a lot of potential, and I will love the day when Lambert proves the likes of Risso wrong, who I must add wanted Lambert as manager in the summer

I repeat as a moderator, shouldn't you NOT be doing an impression of one of the biggest wind up merchants on here?  Everybody's entitled to an opinion, yet you've done nothing but pick on other posters in this thread.  Poor form from a poster I used to respect.

That's the crumb of comfort - at least Lerner can't go into January with his convenient delusions that we can get out of this shit on the cheap, which he was probably thinking after Liverpool.

I don't think he really gives too much of a shit any more, to be honest.

So long as we clamber out of the relegation places come the end of the season, that's all he's concerned about.

La,bert seems to be escaping a lot of flak but this is shocking, dropping bent was stupid but we don't seem to be getting better , we have been a shambles the last 2 games and in all my years watching villa never have I seem such shit as this last 2 games- -12 goal diff from 2 games s a joke!

Yeah it's starting to look like he's gambled with our future big style by having that "who's got the biggest dick" match with Bent.
I don't think Bent would have made much difference...

But at least he can't hide behind this prudent custodian bull because games like this show how much he's risking our necks.

Players should be ashamed....Supporters should'nt be ashamed....embarrassed yes  ....ashamed never, if you are then clear off and support someone else.

Ireland and Kea should be for their can't be arsed performances

What other emotions would you like to ban supporters from feeling? If you could write out a list (preferably in order of importance) I'll gladly curb my opinions so they are identical to yours.

Sorry for thinking for myself.

We have been going backwards for two years.

Relegation this season would be a disaster. The TV deal is huge next season, we could be looking at a very barren decade if we drop this season and retain the current 'custodians'. I don't know why fans haven't turned on Lerner. Three seasons in a row fighting relegation is beneath our status. I mean three seasons in a row?

In 1995 we spent, in 2003 we spent, in 2006 we changed owner. What have we done this time? Get worse?

I'm not going to get onto that hoary old chestnut. But it was more a general point about how Lambert has to be judged on his decisions all season, which have got us here. There was a lot of dodgy trend-calling going on after the unbeaten run, based on sketchy evidence imo.

bright future?

Oh come on, we all  know that was just a marketing tool that was nice for a game or two. Who cares about it? We're second best to Tottenham, these things happen. Ashamed? Fine, don't bother wearing your Villa scarf and shirt for a week or two. Proud a few days ago when we beat Liverpool but now we have a couple of heavy defeats the world is caving in and the four horsemen of the apocalypse are coming to Aston Villa. Worse things happen in the world and we'll get better. No need for over-reactions.

Amen. This is shit, but 2 weeks ago we were sublime. We can judge only at the end of the season. We know from the signing of Bent a couple of years ago that Lerner will put his hand in his pocket when he absolutely needs to

No, you don't like that I have an argument against your continual, part of the time bile filled, vitriol against the club. Re poster I used to respect, ditto.
