I got a bit of banter from family this morning, this afternoon I stuck a replica villa kit on my Jack Russell (Ellis) and took him a walk. Yes I am proud of Villa.

You named your dog after Doug Ellis ?

Yep I did, I grew up with terriers and know they are little bastards, so thought it was a good name.

I watched the game in my club(Northfield Town F.C) and i must confess to sinking further and further in my chair as the goals flew in. There were probably only about 4 or 5 Villa fans present the vast majority of others being noses or baggies with other oddities thrown into the mix. Due to my pride or whatever you want to call it i make it clear to all in there where my loyalties lie and throughout the afternoon and post match good natured comments flew around with gay abandon, but then at 8 o'clock the whole room of 'bastards' stood up and gave a minutes applause. A few expletives were emitted from my mouth.....but all good natured. Bastards!!!!!

Is it wrong that I thought the minutes applause was brilliant?

Always proud to be claret and blue - there are always jumps in the road but we are Aston Villa and we will overcome.

I would never not be proud to have followed the world's greatest football club throughout my entire life, we're Aston Villa and you're either one of us or you aren't.

I had to chuckle at that too.

Always proud to be a Villa fan.  Bit pissed off about yesterday, but despite the football, and feeling ill, we had a good day out.

Of course. And it is worth remembering we are spoilt when you compare our cushy club to those fans who year in year out support teams in lower divisions who never have any hope of promotion or winning anything.

I was working. It was 3-0 when I got out and I left it until the 90 to check the score.

I've not seen anything of the game - although the highlights were on in the pub earlier and my mate told me to watch Guzan's save - and I don't intend to.

I feel a perverse sense of pride apropos witnessing (albeit courtesy of premieradlive) such a low moment in Villa history.

Nah, that's it for me.   I am going to burn my shirt and sell my priceless collection of memorabilia.   I can't take any more tossers coming up to me and saying Aston Villa? Aston Villa?   I want to follow a big club who win things.   I want to walk into a cockney cocktail bar with my head held high.   F*uck you Aston Villa you have gone too far this time.   Eight f*cking nil.   In any case I can get to Chelsea or Arsenal or Hotsperms on the train.   No more f*cking roadworks on the M6.   Yippee!!!! No more driving.   Get pissed on the train.

It is beyond pride, way way beyond.

You are proud of winning a Nobel prize or an Olympic gold medal.   That is pride.

Being an Aston Villa fan is a lifetime of love and devotion, nothing more, nothing less

I'm not proud, just very very angry. I don't like us being part of some flawed experiment using kids by a manager who will no doubt move one once we have inevitably dropped out of the Premier League. (I did say I was angry).

Also quite irritated by the "it's only one game" brigade. Yup, one game indeed ....... That we lost 8-0 FFS.

I am always proud to be a villan, and so are my two fellowcountrymen, members of the Latin Lions, that spent about 800 $ and quarrelled with their girlfriends (that wanted to spend with them the Christmas Eve) to see the worst Villa defeat ever!   ;D

What are trying to get at TV,yesterday was worse than anything under TSM.You keep banging on about pride, but how can you have pride in that performance?

The difference is that the players we have are capable of getting something in the next few matches. Imagine the dread of the Xmas fixture list after a drubbing like that with TSM in charge.

Which is why the question in first place was stupid.

I'll always be a proud Villa fan, but yesterday's result was inexcusable, and now stands written in stone for all time, or at least until we let in nine, which I hope never happens.  Being a masochist, I watched the entire match this morning, and it was just complete and utter capitulation.
