Any one of us is worth a 1,000 of their chavvy, glory hunting, johnny come lately, classless tossers

And the ones I know realise that deep down too
They don't have to look that deep really richard.

Aston Villa are singularly unique in the world of football and the odd freak result, which could happen to any team at any time, will never change that or the pride that I feel in supporting them.

Shoulders back, chin up, and remember who the piss-takers are when it's their turn, as it surely will be one day! What goes around comes around remember.

What are trying to get at TV,yesterday was worse than anything under TSM.You keep banging on about pride, but how can you have pride in that performance?

The Villa fans put in a decent performance again, I met Nigel Kennedy as well, top man. Also, unless I've missed it, the club or the manager hasn't said anything about the support we gave them yesterday when Chelsea were knocking the ball into the net at will while their fans stayed silent.

Yes the performance was horrendous. I'm not hiding from that at all. I'm not onl about pride in the performance because that would be nuts. What I am suggesting is that instead of us piling onto the club we need to pull together. There's enough outsiders taking shots at us that the very last thing we need is to be turning on the club and each other. If that's the route we take then we may as well book a trip to Barnsley and the sty now. We need a united front now more than ever.

Always proud albeit I've not attended matches regularly for 25 years. I started supporting Villa properly early in season 67/68 so the only way from then was up (and I count the 2 seasons in Div 3 as being on the way up)
As for piss taking, I can actually take it on the chin from others as long as it's witty, one-off, banter and from genuine football fans who've been through it themselves. Couldn't take it from glory-hunters or non-football fans though.

Bollox . If people want to take the piss then let 'em. My level of pride (I am not even sure pride is quite the right term) has very little to with whether we win or not.
Anyway I'm off to find a Charlton fans forum, being pre internet we never properly took the piss out of them for losing 11-1 to us.

That is more like it.

Now that is a proper grown-up response.

I don't seem to remember the fans needing a group-hug every time the Villa lost in the Third Division.

But these days everyone has to re-take their wedding vows every fortnight, and the same seems to apply to football.

I wonder what would have been said if the 'net was around in 1968.

Exactly the same - The Board Must Go.
But these young keyboard warriors ain't fit to paint the bedsheets of the Children of the Revolution I tell ya !

I'll always be proud to support my club as I have done since childhood but yesterday was hard to take.

A Blackpool fan I work with was just giving it some, claiming that we should be thrown out of the league for being beaten 8-0. When asked about his teams record defeat he didn't have an answer, so I looked it up on his behalf:

1-10

at home

against Small Heath.

He's gone quiet.

I think this site is grown up enough apart from a few to know where we are at the moment.Christ knows what VT was like last night.I just think being asked if we had lost our pride in our great club is a bit much.

I got a bit of banter from family this morning, this afternoon I stuck a replica villa kit on my Jack Russell (Ellis) and took him a walk. Yes I am proud of Villa.

You named your dog after Doug Ellis ?
