He is already too old to beat Jimmy Browns record for youngest debut.

I think we're being a bit sensitive here, why should a swedish kid have any allegiance to villa.  He's just ambitious and it's probably quite hard to express that desire in a second language other than saying he wants to play at the highest level he can.

Let's concentrate on the positives, he's chosen our academy because he thinks it's the best.  Let's hope all of the top youngsters think the same and soon enough the jump from Villa to Man U will not be so big.

There does seem to be little point in getting narked over a kid who may or may not make it. Don't get me wrong he might be sensational, but by the same token, he might just as easily be the next Nii Lamptey or Freddy Adu.

Try and get into the reserves first mate, then we'll see if you're up to playing for the best club in the Universe.

I want players who want to play at the highest level possible.

If they are all *THAT* good, they'll get there with Villa. Win-win.

His comments aside, does anyone know what player he resembles who's playing today?

If he makes the first team in four years time, his quote won't seem so important.

It's not so much this player saying that which gets on my tits, it is the sense of entitlement and arrogance of a lot of young footballers that gets on my tits.

I think he'll almost certainly have a harsh awakening when he comes here into the Academy and realises it's not quite as easy to just move into the first team. Even if this isn't a "bigger club".

Succeed or fail, he'll probably be driving a Merc Amg within a year.

Khalid Abdo? Doesn't sound Swedish. Then again neither does Ibrahimovic. Hopefully he can do a Zlatan for us.

Gabriel Agbonlahor isn't really a traditional British name either.

Anyway, this whole thing is a load of nonsense. Young professional footballer wants to play for as big a club as he can and earn as much money as he can. What a shock.

Which members of our playing staff for the last decade have been any different?

Don't care what he said. If he ends up being as good as he thinks he can be he'll be a star for us and that in turn would change his perspective on everything. One has to remember that for the last 16 years we've done the square root of fuck all as a club and kids of that age, and especially ones from abroad really don't know much or anything about our standing in the game. If at the end of the day he moves on for a royal fee then our academy will have done it's job in developing the player. Not every player will stay at the club anyway, so who cares what he says at 16.

Aston Villa have beaten a number of clubs to the signature of Swedish teenager Khalid Abdo.

The likes of Fulham and Hamburg have been chasing Abdo, but Villa have agreed a deal for the 16-year-old.

Abdo came to Villa's attention after impressing for Swedish Second Division outfit Larje-Angered and he is relishing the chance of joining the Premier League club.

"Back in September I found out that Aston Villa wanted to recruit me," Abdo told fotbolltransfers.com. "I'm happy, it feels good.

"I will play with the U18 team but hope to move up to the reserves as soon as possible. I feel I can handle the pace here so I want to take the step from U18 to reserves within a year.

"Aston Villa graduate often players for the first team. Their academy is the best of those I was with. I feel that I can best develop here.

"The goal is to step up to the first team and then maybe move on to a bigger club."

I know nothing about him but his comments about moving on to a bigger club really grinds my gears.

Quit grindin yer gears
It's hurtin me ears

Yeah, the only tenuous link to past Villa success he could possibly have is that he may have been conceived on an IKEA futon on a night we were maintaining our steady progress towards the 1996 Coca Cola Cup final.

I thought this thread was about Khalid Abdullah the owner of Frankel.   At long last an owner with a bob or two I thought but alas it is all about tomorrow's Stefan Moore.
