Really? Do we have to have a go at each other? I understand some fans being gutted, it was hard to take. I also understand seeing the positives form the game, we looked decent at times and are getting better.

Cant we just unite and start hating the referee? :)

I'm sure you were delighted when they got the winner.

There will be no more snide comments like that either.
I wasn't being insulting and nothing was against the rules.

Anyone who just blindly points out the possession stat didn't watch the game. We were efficient with the ball making the most going forward. They didn't do much with the ball, it was used down the wing mainly. We shut them down in the middle, I can't remember how many times they passed it back to their defense due to being ineffective.

There's no point in having more of the ball if you're not actually doing anything with it not being effective. We may of had less of the ball, but all that shows is we were more effective than them when in possession.

It was always going to be able hard to pass it around with ease against such an opponent, but I thought we did a good job considering it was 17th vs 1st.

My lad had a day off from playing so he treated me to a rare game at VP and have to say I thought we were superb. Benteke was a beast, his control is fantastic and if Lambert can pick a player like this for 6m, we should have faith. Vlaar was class IMHO, and agree Stevens deserves a mention for sticking to his task. Am still a bit worried with Clark at CB, seems to switch off at times, Gabby should have tracked better for that second goal. I like Westwood, keeps it simple, did think at times he or Bannan could have pushed on the midfielder a little, but not a criticism. And as for the fans, was at the back of the Holte and thought the atmosphere was superb

For some on here their glasses are half full and some half empty.

I hate losing to those arrogant bastards - but at least we gave them a game today and made them work hard to beat us.

We have now got a developing team and some hope for the future. 12 months ago we had TSM and fear of relegation. Now we have hope. And a chance we can look forward to the future.

Enda Stephens might not make it - but he did all he could today to keep his opponent at bay. When he forced Valencia back towards the half way line late in the first half - that was the sign that we had negated ManU's threat in the first half and we could compete with them. Not long after we were in front.

Weimann is a good goal scorer - give him a chance and he will score more than he misses.

Gabby put in a shift for the team - apparently he doesn't like playing wide left but he was great today providing cover for a young left back making his debut. And he got forward and provided a threat.

Benteke was immense. He is still settling in but he is working out how to play in this league - and he is finding out he has got what it takes.

Ireland - I'm not his no 1 fan - but today he had the best game I've seen him play in a Villa shirt.

First half we frustrated Utd - and grew in confidence - 2nd half we didn't cope with their change of personnel / tactics - but we will learn. We didn't have their resources on the bench.

Lambert is doing an excellent job - be patient and we will improve - only thing I think he did wrong was the 3rd sub when we defending the free kick which led to their winner.

Good post. Hope is the word.

The unbearable pain of being a Villa fan

Before they scored, and I thought we might win, remember thinking about the highs and lows, and somehow, the highs being more annoying than the lows. It makes sense to me, though realise it might not to others.

It was a deliberately snide comment with the sole intention of getting a reaction. It also got a member banned because they reacted to your dig. Do not do it again.

Rome wasn't built in a day - it will take time to sort out the mess we were in at the end of last season.

As for Rome I hope most of it is finished when I visit next Easter.

TRying to look at it a bit more rationally now after reading other comments. Can't believe any one can criticise Westwood he was absolutely matching their midfield and is a very tidy passer. Their first goal was route one and I couldn,t believe that irritating little shit rolled it in.After that it was obvious what was going to happen, but unlike previous years we had a go till the end , they were shit scared of Benteke. All we are missing is that midfield general we all know is what we need.Special mention for Enda Stevens on his 1st Premier  league start they obviously singled him out for special treatment but that moment in the first half where he forced them back was great.I must admit I am biased where opinions about us are concerned I prefer the glass half full approach, one or two on here seem happier with the opposite.

Leave Enda alone. He is a kid thrown in at the deep end against a team who are considered to be our superiors.
Give him your support and he wil come good. Our new re-born Danny Blanchflower in the making.
We are entering a new era with a new team to bring us back to a time of former glories and a new age of greatness.
Give Enda a chance and all praise to PL for giving him that chance.

I thought we were bloody brilliant. Bodes well for the future. More than matched them in the first half and what could have been if Weimann's header had gone in for his hat-trick. Fair play to ManUre. They never give up and don't know when they are beaten. The Terminator of the Premier League, I suppose.  Shame about their so-called supporters though.

Exactly this, like I earlier said, this was fifth game in which they came back from behind to win the game. Fifth time from 11 games. Fergie has made it into an artform of their own.

Just some crap being posted from people who I question have ever been to Villa Park !

And Leicester Villian was born in Halesowen ....worked in Leicester for 20 years and now lives in Cannock !

Not having a go mate, but i rarely get to VP nowadays, but as you dont know everyone on this site personally and their Villa supporting history, thats a poor comment. I'm fairly positive that many on here have been season ticket holders, and seen us win everything but an FA cup live, and probably one or 2 who were there that day

Great all round team performance, gutted with the result, there can be no doubt we deserved a draw. We were the better team for an hour. Their first goal was the killer, if we had held out for 10 more mins we would have won. Special mention for Westwood, Benteke, Lowron, Bannan & Vlar.

Whilst we can't glorify a defeat the manner of it fills me with a confidence that we will be OK & that we are on the right track.

I said before the game that the least we could expect was that we wouldn't simply roll over.
