It deserves repeating, but was anybody else laughing while celebrating the first? Our biggest unit against their's.

Their's ends up looking like an eight year old boy.

It was the best goal we've scored in ages.  The power and perseverance of Benteke and the clinical precision of Weimann.

Just got back to Bristol

Very proud of the team this evening and delighted for AW to get a couple of great goals.....I think if we keep Benteke AW and Gabby firing all season we will be fine.

Not the first time Benteke has done it either, he did something similar against Albion where he chased down a lost cause and created something out of nothing.

Now I have stopped crying. Yeah benteke looks real class. Brilliant signing. Lets hope we keep him and build around that kind of quality going forward.

I was - Smalling went down like  rag doll, and I was a bit surprised the ref didn't give a foul, although I think he got it right.

The way we set up today and the performance from Benteke, says to me we've seen the last of Bent.

It's the hope that kills you mate. In less than two seasons we all know he'll probably be playing for the Plastic Manc or Chelski.

For some on here their glasses are half full and some half empty.

I hate losing to those arrogant bastards - but at least we gave them a game today and made them work hard to beat us.

We have now got a developing team and some hope for the future. 12 months ago we had TSM and fear of relegation. Now we have hope. And a chance we can look forward to the future.

Enda Stephens might not make it - but he did all he could today to keep his opponent at bay. When he forced Valencia back towards the half way line late in the first half - that was the sign that we had negated ManU's threat in the first half and we could compete with them. Not long after we were in front.

Weimann is a good goal scorer - give him a chance and he will score more than he misses.

Gabby put in a shift for the team - apparently he doesn't like playing wide left but he was great today providing cover for a young left back making his debut. And he got forward and provided a threat.

Benteke was immense. He is still settling in but he is working out how to play in this league - and he is finding out he has got what it takes.

Ireland - I'm not his no 1 fan - but today he had the best game I've seen him play in a Villa shirt.

First half we frustrated Utd - and grew in confidence - 2nd half we didn't cope with their change of personnel / tactics - but we will learn. We didn't have their resources on the bench.

Lambert is doing an excellent job - be patient and we will improve - only thing I think he did wrong was the 3rd sub when we defending the free kick which led to their winner.

It was a magnificent result and a magnificent game. Villa did fantastic today, they ran their socks off. We have to feel for them

First off we didn't roll over we competative all day, the fact is SAF has players on standby for every circumstance and he usually picks the right option. Thought Benteke was huge for us and Ron did well in defence, the team is taking shape just need a bigger squad with more options.

The booking really put a stop on Irelands game. He was playing really well for me on and off the ball.

Haven't been home long. I can't remember the last time we scored in the last minute of the first half. Absolutely delighted at that stage. Felt inevitable they'd win once they scored. I'm annoyed, but not gutted, there was something to be proud of today. Can't remember Given celebrating in games when we scored the same way Guzan does, though that could be lack of memory on my part.

On an unrelated note, couldn't believe how quickly we managed to get away from the Mansfield Green school car park.

Couldn't agree more.

One of the worst things about blowing it yet against them will be Fergie patronising us. I used to love it in the mid 90s when we would go up there and got a 0-0 and he'd whinge about us endlessly.
