Wilson Palacios left in his Rolls Royce driven by his agent. #Stoke #bbctransfernews

I would like him to be coming to us, but there hasn't actually been a solid rumour to that effect, has there?

Curtis Davies heading to Norwich. Think we should go for him - 2m is peanuts and should fit into the wage structure. Needs must and he is better than what we have

I would'nt have been against him coming in.

We should be looking to get a couple of experienced Stoke defenders/midfielders as part of the deal. Huth springs to mind for starters, and maybe take a chance on Palacios (if he's still there?).

That Walters bloke even maybe.

Huth wouldn't leave us for you. no offence for reasons I've already stated.
I've answered the Palacious one above, and you or for that matter Manchester City haven't enough cash to get Pulis to sell his favourite player. :)

No offence but however bad things are here i feel sorry for you having to watch such shit football week in week out  every year - if stoke played in my garden i would draw the curtains - horrible stigma on football!

Ok I respect your opinion, I beg to differ as we sometimes do play some good stuff, but we have certainly regressed lately as we have tried to change systems to fit Adam in etc.

I came on to see your opinion onmBent nothing more but answered a question, please look at my first explaination for why a player wouldn't leave us for you at the min. Certainly no dig, infact look at all my 200+ posts on here and you won't find a disrespectful one.

I respect you sir, i dont have time  for your teams brand of football, i accept that players of quality would not leave stoke for villa .

Fair enough Eastie :)

The E&S have said Lambert has a budget of £3m, so he has £1m left if accurate. Gotta be very creative now, maybe it'll be a loan or someone out and cash/player in.

I never believe that anyone other than Lambert, Faulkner & Lerner know what our transfer budget is. Just speculation

Of course. But it's a pretty precise figure quoted by a journalist who covers Villa every day, so ballpark it might not be too wide of the mark. And it would correspondent neatly between the 'barely any money' line Lambert has used, and the 'there is money' theory coming from elsewhere/Lerner's statement. There is money. But not a lot.
3 mil for a premier league club to spend in January is a bloody joke and an insult to all of us concerned with Villa. IMO

Somebody at the E&S must have put the question to Lambert and got the response..

"Hiie fukatieeie i cabiriete tri".

Now that could translate to 'budget of 3 million' or it could mean 'mind your own business' or even..... 'have you ever tossed a caber'.

I sincerely hope that isn't true but if it is we can kiss the Premier League goodbye.
Sorry to be a grumpy chops, but I already have.

Does anybody seriously think we're going to sign the adequate experience and quality we need today?

The Lerner's not for turning.

I dont think Shawcross would come, but he would be my choice signing from Stoke.  His positional play is excellent, and he knows exactly how much pulling and barging he can get away with.  Watch how frustrated players get with him, and end up fouling and giving away free kicks themselves.  I think he is a defensive leader, a future england ever present.  And id love him to be wearing Claret and Blue for all our remaining defensive set pieces and corners.

Thing is though geezer, we are talking about an England striker here, one of the best goalscoring records in the prem league we paid approx £20m for and quite rightly at the time. Just because he's had a couple of injuries and been mismanaged at times here doesn't mean that he's not still valuable. I'd love to keep him but if we aren't going to use him properly we need to cash in and get the players we are desperate for. You don't have anyone in your squad that is a better prospect than Bent, so if Stoke want him badly enough we should be taking our pick. Depending of course if the players will come to us in the middle of a relegation fight.

I agree with you, i just think that with our style and defensive mindedness, we couldn't wouldn't shouldn't risk swapping a better stiker than what we have for one of the lynchpins to our relative sucess.

Two Stoke players to Blues on loan in the proposed Butland deal. Shotton and one other.

Crouch also left Stoke training. QPR bound maybe.

The 3m being mentioned is probably correct IMO. We'll only spend more if Bent goes. As I have said before, sell-to-buy policy.

Me too, I'm afraid. Other clubs doing more than us to strengthen. I never expected any significant signings to be made, because I never thought the funds were/are there. Sylla at least gives us another option in an area we're light in, and he sounds the type we need, but he's again one for the long-term. We might get a CB in on loan perhaps (the link with Rolando suggests this) but that's all I'm expecting.

We'll find out by midnight, but I think we'll more or less go with what we've got.

If Shotton left Stoke, who would take over their long throw tactic?

Shotton and Palacious would make sense to them, I really don't think he's what Villa need you need and instant impact and true leader.
