This thread has, quite rightly, become very busy. Has anyone mentioned Savage's suggestion that Villa sign Carragher? Hate Robbie, but for the rest of this season, Carragher would be ideal - on and off the pitch.

Someone on VT claiming Abdoulaye Ba is having a medical tomorrow.

not sure on this ITK's credentials but Ba is the 6'6" Porto centre back we have long been linked with.

West Ham tried to sign him in the summer but couldn't get the necessary work visa.

Wasn't that cascarino's suggestion. Not sure he's got the legs anymore, certainly has the brain.

Just undertook a detailed Scouting Mission on the Ba fella via Youtube ....big lad strong in the air...Physical on the ball and a blocker.

Little in the way of distribUtion in fact he makes Peter Kay look cultured

Could become a bit of a cult CULT hero or be a big old donkey

Ba would be a good strong signing - any fee mentioned? 6ft 6  so he will make a good jumper.

Just in from a meeting to see we've signed someone! And a defensive midfielder, too! Hope we go after that other lad, Charybdis!

Has that one been done yet?

If we get Ba in after Sylla, will our next acquisitions surname be Steward?

"Lack" surely? Just for the headlines of Sylla, Ba, Lack.
Nice  ;D

Not sure his heart is in it. Wasn't he on ITV last summer trying out for a pundit role? Can see him retiring the end of the season.

Thrilled if signing anyone at all, but Sylla and Ba are what used to be termed 'ones for the future', aren't they? Not the saviours of a relegation favourite.

I'm glad we've signed someone, a DM at that as well, yet I was hoping we'd go for experience in order to have a bloody good go at getting out of this mess we're in. I don't think this kind of signing is what we need right now, it represents too much of a gamble IMO, and we can't afford to do that. I'm pretty pissed off that the club are willing to dice with our Premier League status anyway.
