We don't need to be linked with strikers.
We have (decent) strikers.

What we dont have is anyone to create the bloody chances for them !!!!!!!

Bent to Stoke's getting stronger.
Would just perfectly sum up how atrociously managed we are f we sell Bent with no time left to use the cash to reinforce!
I'm losing the will.....

We don't know that it won't though.  Maybe we need this to happen to allow the funds for others to come in?
You're right, we don't know. Just saying the above scenario would just be the icing on this pretty shit cake

Bent to Stoke's getting stronger.

hopefully for a big wad of cash and then we get someone in...

Probably a straight swap for horse racing's Michael Owen.

Seems there might - note the word 'might' - be some transfer deadline day activity at #avfc tomorrow after all

I'd be more inclined to go with what actually came from the horse's mouth rather than someone elses version of what they think might have happened. Regardless of how good anyone thinks either player is, it seems as clear as day that they would be at least part of the squad if ability was the only thing being considered. I wouldn't be surprised if their wages came close to the combined total we're paying 4 or 5 of the new players.

Not really, it being financial and/or ability related are exclusive.  Lambert has probably decided that he's not good enough and that trying everything to get rid of him will free up wages and maybe get a little money as a transfer fee which can both be used to sign a better player.

As others have said, if it was entirely finance based Given and Ireland would have had the same treatment.

Exactly, I think I may have been misinterpreted. When I said Lambert was forced to get rid of the pair, I didn't actually mean that the owner/board made him do this, the theory is the one you've mentioned - that he needed to free up space on the wage bill to get players in to plug the holes left from the previous regime. This still suggests to me that both the Hutton and Warnock situations are in the main financially motivated and not because they are not good enough as previously suggested.

Well if it results in us getting players in the positions we need then so be it. I'm not happy that we're selling him, but needs must.

Straight cash of part ex dave?

Part exchanges almost never happen. They often make theoretical sense and the press like printing them for some reason.

I would worry though that if we got £10m for Bent, the prices we have in mind for the players we want to buy might shoot up and then RL/PL/PF might refuse to pay them.... or is that worrying a bit too much?!

Getting rid of our most prolific striker because our pathetic manager hasn't a clue how to get the best out of him, something that even Steve Bruce managed This is utterly depressing

I'm past caring if we sign anyone before the deadline or not, the damage has already been done. It's going to take a miracle to beat the drop. Only 4 wins all season is beyond relegation form.

If Bent goes and no-one comes in then Lerner and Lambert should be shot.

Agree with this , natural goalscorer all his career and lambert hasnt a clue how to get the best from him when we have a terrible scoring record.

Bent to Stoke makes sense to me. They have money, they need a striker, we need money, hopefully we can make it work at the last minute. Bent against Newcastle should have been the latest in a long line of proofs that he is just not right for us.
