@JamesNursey: Lambert also told press yesterday Shay Given definitely staying & that #AVFC missed out on Moussa Sissoko to #NUFC
There were some good scoops in the Metro this morning. I would put them on here but left it on the train.

Remember any?
No. As soon as I started reading them, I thought I was on here. Fell asleep and nearly missed my stop.

Was mcleish in your dreams?

Do his opinions merit a patronising, if not disparaging response as to what type of place he works.  You might disagree with what he says, but to then equate that to his job is in poor taste in my view.

Have a day off Captain sensible. We're only having the craic.

Missed out on Sissoko well that's good to know. How about trying to find some alternatives? I hope we are.

Malouda would be useful provided we get a defensive midfield and defender in as well.

I'm not suprised we missed out on Sissoko given he landed a six and a half year deal.
Must be a plan B of the same ilk lined up, hopefully as he's just the sort we need.

I'm sure we are after alternatives.
Given that we were after Sissoko it seems Lambert realises we at least need a strong box to box midfielder.
Sissoko would have been nice but there are a few of his type around. Need to make it happen.

Can I just say I watched Hutton play for Forrest on Boxing Day with a few family members. Everyone watching agreed the rampaging, marauding right back was the best player on the pitch and was running the show - quite a feat from The RB position. Who was it? Yep you guessed it, there is a player in there, no doubt.
To all those mocking, don't be surprised to see Hutton playing regularly for a premiership team next year (along with Aaron Hughes, Steve sidwell, Curtis Davies, Stephen Davies, Craig Gardner, James Collins etc etc) while we're languishing mid table in the championship.
It's amazing how all these players were ridiculed for not being good enough for us are doing a decent job for other teams

Hutton could have done a job this season competing and providing cover for Lowton, who is out on his knees.

Warnock is a better player than Bennett at left back, and certainly an option in midfield.

Neither are world beaters, but both are useful enough to be in our side.

Totally agree.  If we were relatively comfortable in mid-table, I'd agree with Lambert's treatment of them, but when you've been as bad as we have, you need to use every last resource at your disposal.

Well that's what you have to do when you're in the shit.I'm sure they had the sense to put a relegation clause in.How old is he 23? Worth the risk I'd say.Shame it's them he's starting for tonight, not us

I bet Hutton marks Messi out the game when they play Barca. I will miss your visits to the shop, If you had of asked you could have had your photo with me. Commitment levels never in doubt, and 100 times better than Lowton. Good luck, UTV

yeah, been ordered to train with the kids at chelsea, not bothered about playing football for 6 months more money than sense with probably no aspiration whatsoever to get his shorts dirty fighting a relegation battle with us.

pair him up in midfield with stephen ireland and we will be onto a winner!

There was a three man challenge on a Blues player at the Sty a couple of years ago. I think it was Warnock, Collins and Dunne. The three went in at the same time and I thought that the ball was likely to burst. The Blues player must have shit himself. That is the commitment we need. For too long last season, we had people moaning about Hutton being a dirty player. The first job of a full back is to tackle. If you have to put the frighteners on the opponent in the process then so be it. I can't remember fans of Liverpool and Chelsea complaining about Tommy Smith and Ron Harris respectively. There is no room for powder puff football when you are in the mire like we are.

Certainly less of a bad idea than handing Shay Given a five year contract.
