IF we do happen to bring anyone in now and it secures our Premierhip safety, then it just beggars the question, why was the money not been spent at the start of January? We might still be in the FA Cup, we might be going to Wembley for the League Cup and pushing on for mid table safety.

Couldnt agree more - o neill was the same often waiting till the last minute- the points dropped this month may already cost us .

I reckon we'll have a couple in at least.
Hope you are right Clampy but we are cutting it fine. We need points now. New blood comes in on Thursday and then they are ready for a tonking at Everton ? Not ideal is it really ?

Not ideal dan, should have been in earlier but i guess better late than never - im sure you will enjoy an afternoon in the sun with a cool pint on saturday while watching our new signings tear the toffees apart.

Will be over next year mate so we will have a few pints and a catch up, lets hope we are still in premiership.
I will be drinking boiled bulls piss and spitting flames if we don't win again mate. Will catch up when you get here, and although it will be close, i think we will survive. Bloody hope so. UTV

Where has this optimism come from?

There has been no communication with fans as game after game goes by and day after day in the transfer window.

If we were serious the likes of Sissoko would be in claret and blue for the Newcastle game. We're only one point worse off than theya re yet they have gone out and brought in good players.

Oh look, there's a fire. We'll have to see if we can put it out, but we don't want to make things any worse by putting it out. Maybe we'll put it out later. Don't expect us to put it all out. But we'll try to do something about putting it out, maybe see how things go and then put it out if we can. We might end up putting it out and getting burnt anyway. We'll have to see about putting it out.

JUST PUT THE FUCKING FIRE OUT ALREADY!

Presuming we do sign a player or two, that doesn't mean we've been spending all month working on that deal.  I said at the start of the window that if you offered me Titus Bramble now or Lescott on 31st Jan, I'd choose Lescott every time.  But if Bramble does rock up to B6 this week, that doesn't mean we've been chasing him all month and could easily have been working on Lescott for ages and had to move on to option B as it wasn't going to happen.

What I'm getting it is that whoever comes in, if anyone does, is not the whole story of what's been going on behind closed doors this month.

This is most likely the long and short of it.

Yes , these things often drag on a while, more deals get done in the last 48 hrs than the rest of the month- bluff and counter bluff but as the clock ticks down people have to reveal their hand.

Well Lambert has confirmed in the press conference Hutton and Warnock will be gone by the end of the window. Let's hope that does free up some money to bring in a couple.

Probably means he has more room to manoeuvre on wages - pity the likes of sissoko have gone .
I take it warnock is off to west ham?

To get them off the wage bill if he's definatley not going to use them? But yes, their wages might push a deal or two through.

Warnock and Hutton going = Lescott's wages/loan fee for the rest of the season?
