Eastie, I applaud you for at least trying to remain somewhat positive re the money situation.

I am not sure what game Lambert is playing, but when were here before under GED we spent some money and ensured survival.

Last season we got Keane, but at that time still had a number of very high earners on the books and had a lot more points in the bag.

This season we are in a desperate state, and it makes no sense financially not to give Lambert 10 million or so to get a few players in. The club intimated to the press there was money a couple of weeks back through the unofficial channels.

This is Lambert IMO.

Surely if he was saying there was no money when there was, he'd be on the first train to sackville?  Firstly for lying, and secondly so Lerner could let a new man spend it.

Maybe the money is there, but he's struggling to get the players he wants, and won't spunk it for the sake of it.

It's an admirable stance, as long as you're not getting twatted week in week out.

Maybe that is the case, but it isn't what he's been saying in interviews lately.

Well eastie's source said there's not much but there is some there. How much is anyone's guess. "vital he spends his money well" is the quote i remember which hints at not much to me

I know, and to be honest I'm fearing he's had the rug pulled a bit.

I think there is a bit, and to be fair there must be for him to have been looking but not finding what he wants. Whether his expectation is too high for his budget is another matter, but I am confident his budget would get a couple of players capable of improving this team in the critical areas.

I'd say fuck whatever budget we have on three quality loans.

If we still go down, then at least we don't have them on the wage bill. Everyone's a winner.

Me too.

Plus NRC on a 6 month deal with the option of a 12 month extension.

Anyone seen/ verified if the Paul Faulkner appearing on Twitter is the real deal?

Well if money is there and he's not spending it he should be fired due to risking our entire future.

I've been reliably informed there is money to spend too. A couple of weeks ago and apparently still the case.
Of course, it doesn't mean much until we see it being spent but there you go.

Not going to get into a debate on what is said until shown to be him or not.

It's stupid and cack-handed enough to be real.

Loved the way he in an around about way blames the club's woes on the fans because they wanted Lambert last summer. It's brilliant!
Though it probably isn't him anyway.

Well if there is money to spend (and i'm very doubtful of that) it clearly isn't enough as PL confirmed in his press conference when asked that either the fees were too steep and/or the wages demanded too high for us to afford.

So let's speculate the amount to spend is 4 or 5 million at tops.  Quite frankly, we might as well give PL 50p to spend considering the market and what we need to sort ourselves out.

I get the feeling that there's a game within a game going on inside VP where the board are starting to put the pressure on Lambert with the usual PR bollocks about previous backing each Manager has received and PL being the fans choice while Lambert tells everyone he won't be quitting - and let's face it, why should he, forgo his Compo entitlement for people that have shifted the goalposts.  I know I wouldn't if my employer did that to me.

Lerner and his team have such a consistent record of fucking up everything they touch over the last few years so creating a situation between Boardroom and Manager that is ultimately to the detriment of the club and it's supporters just seems par for the course these days.

I understand they don't mean to, they're just fucking useless.
