He may be nearly as old as Lambert but I would bring back Mellberg, as others have suggested.

Just to have him around the first team would be a huge boost.

Who in their right mind would join us right now?  You'd have to be a mercenary looking for a quick buck, or a fucking idiot.  Luckily most footballers fall into both of those categories, so there's still hope.

He would be the only player at Villa old enough to grow a beard ;D

I've got to the point where I don't care. I no longer expect us to sign anyone and I fully expect a good kicking week after week until the end of the season culminating in the inevitable. It's like I've gone beyond anger, misery and now I'm at the apathy stage. I'm sure there is group I could join where the attendees all sit around a room discussing their situations while drinking cocoa.

I can understand to some extent if there's no money for signings.
I can appreciate it's suddenly become a whole lot tougher to convince players to join us.

But I can't accept we're unable to utilise the loan market just to patch things up for 5 months.

Hanging head at his next meeting... hello my name is Eric.... and I begged a player that was bigger than me not to score again in my last game....

Sits down, with some whimpering audible.

If there is no money for permanent deals, why the fuck aren't we looking at loans?

Look what a difference Robbie Keane made last season.

If the answer is that there is no money for loans either, then we are not just fucked, we are dead and buried.

Finally, is it not worth considering playing Warnock again? Something has to change down the left hand side of the pitch because week after week we are getting mercilessly bummed there and there is zero sign of it stopping.

I agree about Warnock, tho I must admit I never thought I would!
At least he seems to understand what football is all about, and may not have the pace but certainly has the physical strength and experience we need.

The issue I have with this zero funds line is... What happened to the £6m we offered Fulham for Dempsey on transfer deadline day? His wages would have been significant. Budget was there and not utilized, why can't Lambert use that now?

That goal Warnock scored against Bolton last season, have any of our midfielders even been in that position this season?

And another thing... when we bought Bent, we were counting on the money that we knew we'd get for Young later. Can't we spend at least a few million now knowing that we'll get decent money for Bent in the summer?

Goalposts being moved, I think. No wonder Lambert looks so fucked off.

It's madness not giving Warnock a go, and as paulie says if there's no money for loans then you wonder what the fuck has happened.

Would we get decent money for bent though, i think we would get far more for benteke if we go down but id be surprised if we got much more than £8m for bent .
