Sharner, Reo Coker and Danny Murphy out of Blackburn would be enough. That is how pathetic our defence/ defensive midfield positions are. Add in Riise who is surplus at Fulham and you would be much better off and give the kids some good pros to learn from, unlike the pathetic effort of Stephen Ireland.

Anything to not let Bannan near the side in the next few months - his form has been incredibly poor.

Danny Murphy must be 36 or 37 by now?
I agree though, he's streetwise and a talker.
I'd trust him to organise things a bit.

The thing is, are we seriously accepting the notion in 6 months that Henke has not found 4-5 players in Europe that would cost 2 million each ish that would improve this side at the back and in the middle? Because I bet, given the luxury of travelling where I like watching every game I could, I could find them - cheap enough both fee and wage wise. I bet a good 50% of posters on here could actually. They are out there, at decent prices.

Warnock, Scharner, Risse and Reo-Coker back in that side would probably be enough if money's so tight. My mate, a former international (albeit for a very small country) suggested NRC to me, I said 'he's crap'. He said yes, but he talks, points, bollocks people and tells them to do their jobs. Anybody else doing that for us at the minute?

One of the reasons I would want him back in, he is a natural leader, talker and organiser. Might be bobbins at passing, but will break up play and work his bollocks off. He is a no brainer for me with our lack of anyone that fits his mould.

I am not a  regular poster but a very regular reader on this brilliant site, this thread started October the 3rd  and with not one genuine rumour 430 pages have been written, I admire everybody's stamina  and dedication

Good point. Trouble is they're all a certain type of player (ie older with premier league experience) that Lambert won't touch. He's painted himself into a corner with his transfer policy, and him going to Lerner, and saying he was wrong isn't going to happen

I know at the end of the day money talks but given the way he left the club.
Would the powers that be accept  having Reo Coker back?

I seem to remember him slamming them in the press for (allegedly) lying to him
and not offering him a new deal.

Maybe. Pride comes before a fall. That goes for Greg's point as well.

Not even Paul Lambert is doing that for us, by the looks of things.

I could do it. Doesn't mean I'm good enough.

I know we're heading for the Championship but why sign players that aren't currently performing down there, and one who isn't playing at all?

It was already practically confirmed when Lambert said there won't be new signings. You should give up hoping mate.
