To sort out the defence you need to buy a centre half and a left back. Riise on a free and some big hard viking would do it fairly quickly. Then add a Sissoko, Capoue type that may not be in that class but I am sure are out there in Europe.

Did he sign Mulumbu at Albion?

I think Riise would be a mistake as he is a pretty good footballer but very ordinary at defending which is where we need to improve.

Sneijder for 6 mil is worth a shout as dutchman is saying wants to okay in England and prepared to make a wage cut so we can cope with financial reason. He plans on next move for footballing reasons so could be difficult if other offers but making him main man and captain in middle would be a revelation and real coup. At the end of the day Liverpool are linked with him and we outbid them for dempsey.. Think a signing like this and then a o'hara type player would be way to go

Love your optimism and the thought of Concrete Ron standing over Sneider and saying "what do ya think bruv" (In Dutch) but in my wildest Villa dreams i think this unlikely. Made me smile though ........

You don't ask you don't get, but I agree, it's about as unlikely as can be.

No offence but that's the most deluded post in this thread.

Sneijder is on 250k a week there, he is one of the highest paid players in Europe.

And even if he fancied a 230k a week pay cut, what football reasons do you think he'd see in joining us above the several hundred clubs he could choose from?

Tevez and mascherano went to west ham one window ... Anything is possible. If club sold in right way and dutch connection including scout then why not ?! A challenging can be quite appealing with a relegation release clause thrown in.. Worth a Bid as even that would give us fans a lift.. imagine that excitement when sky sport news understands villa make 6mil bid. Even if he rejected the idea of trying to get him would be amazing! Parker and lescott are nt saying they take a pay cut !

If we wait till the last few days, we could be 6 points from safety, rock bottom of the league.

With our goal deifference that's effectively 7 points.

Welcome back Ian. I hope you are well and it's so good to see you posting again (JD).

Here we go, let's play with money. Sneider is up for sale for £6.8M. So we sign him for £10M (including a signing on fee of £3.2M and £6.8M to Inter) and then pay him $70K a week on a three year contract (well I would if I owned Villa). Sometimes you need to think outside the square a bit to make things work (which I do constantly in my job if I want to employ people I need).

Can anyone in Turkey afford to pay a salary of £250K a week, I very much doubt it.

Why would a Manager resign just to let another clown get money to spend.
Stick with it, Paul Lambert. Stay away, Di Matteo. Get your finger out, Randolph Lerner.

Is the right answer

Have we gone back to 2003 and I've not noticed?
