I don't get the assumption people have that we will be signing anyone. We are badically still broke financially i reckon and until we get rid of Ireland,Dunne,Warnock,Hutton and even Bent (unlikely with thier insane wages!) where will this money to buy a new player come from?

Sad to say i know, and we all know no signings in key areas= relegation

No-one will buy the above players - they are rubbish or injured as has been demonstrated by the last 2 years.

I think the sum Pat Murphy quoted was up to 10m - more if he can shift on the deadwood. We couldn't shift some of that lot a gathering of neanderthals on the gypsy cursed ground in Bordesley on bonfire night even if we tried.

Ok assuming that's true i wonder why. I hope to god the main reson isnt the board naively believing about sticking too these financial fair play rules. Surely they cant believe teams like QPR and the "Big teams" will not exploit loopholes in the rules. Surely Randy could just sponsor the corner flags for £50 million or something..

If there's a loophole, you can be sure that Harry & Co will find it

I thought these FFP rules only applied to clubs competing in Europe. We are miles off a European place at the moment so can spend whatever we can without negative FFP repercussions. Can anyone confirm this?

A luxury we can only dream of -

@JamesNursey: #QPR transfer plans are interesting. Apparently Harry is so sure they will stay up, his signings are also for next season to kick on

Maybe qpr could line up a sponsorship of brown paper bags.

Well that's a hell of gamble, because they're not going to QPR for anything other than money and if they don't stay up they'll be ruined.

Similar to pompeys strategy.

From the BBc Gossip page:-

Coach Roberto Mancini will step up Manchester City's search for a new defender if Vincent Kompany loses his red card appeal, and the champions could target Borussia Dortmund pair Neven Subotic, 24, and Mats Hummels, 24.

Full story: Daily Mirror

Signing two defenders seems a bit OTT to cover a (presumably) 3 game ban.  So if true this might hasten Lescott's exit.  That doesn't mean he'll come to us, but one to keep an eye on with the outside hope of possibly a loan deal.

Lambert said. Villa fans are in dreamland if they think lescotts an option .
and to think odreary and ellis could have snaffled him up for next to nowt!
