Better than nothing, but he's going to cost, unless he's wage-free.

Anyway, that's a nonsense argument. Sticking me or you there would be "better than nothing"' in the literal sense.

He doesn't have to be better than nothing, he has to be better than what we already have.

I love the way some of us have decided he's the answer. He's a player who really sums up the woeful financial mismanagement of this club. He was utterly shit when he was here, and there's a reason why he is being released by the mighty Ipswich.

It's not as if we haven't had a recent reminder of how gash he is. He spent most of the other afternoon getting bypassed by the very same shit midfield you think he'll improve.

He is not the answer to all our worries, but Lambert won't play Warnock, won't play Clark in midfield and we seem to be absolutely skint.

I don't care how much he costs, if he can make any kind of difference, no matter how small it may be.

People remember how bad he was, but also forget some of his outstanding performances like our 3-1 win at anfield as an example.

If we don't sign a midfielder before the baggies game, it's not acceptable

I agree we need a midfielder, but you're avoiding the point that he needs to be better than what we have. And he isn't.

I would hardly describe his performance at Anfield as "outstanding". And what's more, if the best you can offer up is one match played five years ago, then really, he's not looking that much a player, is he?

If NRC had never played for Villa, would you be calling for us to get him in now?

No, of course you wouldn't, and that says it all, really.

I think what he is trying to say is that NRC was utterly anonymous against our rather pathetic midfield 8 days ago...  He can wait for his super contract from Barca as far as I'm concerned.

I know we need experience but I am pretty sure Nigel Reo-Coker is not what we need.

He was a poor footballer two or three years ago and seems to have gone backwards

I have no idea who we should get in (or who we can afford) but would be pretty pissed off if we went for NRC

NRC is not for us. Wasn't when he left and isn't now. We can do much, much better

If the answer is Nigel Reo-Coker, we'd need a computer the size of Deep Thought to figure out the exact nature of what must be a pretty bizarre question.

I think if we sign Messi, if only on a loan deal until the end of the season we will score a few more goals than we are doing at the moment. Whadda you mean he wouldn't come to us.
We are Aston Villa after all.

Only three years and five months ago. Which doesn't change your argument but I thought Nige was getting a pounding from you.

Three years and five months, but it may as well be 35 years ago.

The papers seems fairly sure that yesterday has prompted some Doug like sofa digging, but won't sanction loans as not happy to pay wages of players at other clubs, which seems odd to me if you can get a player like Sinclair or Welbeck who would clearly add a lot to us on loan, or a Huddlestone that might work out great and then sign him long term.

In the case of Huddlestone, Tottenham would want a £2m loan fee (maybe even more with the current circumstances). Which makes you wonder what other sorts of loan fees clubs would want. There's no way Man United would make Welbeck available and I thought because Sinclair had already played for Swansea and Citeh that the rules wouldn't allow it?
