Well indeed I'd play him for 6 months.

For fucks sake, theres no way I believe that there is no better leftback in the world than Enda Stevens who wont sign for us for less than £20.000 p/w.

Same applies to Delph, Bannan, Clarke etc etc

These players are shit and theres better out there who wouldnt cost the earth or millions of pounds per season.

Other clubs have found them, look at a squad list from the Premier league and count them up, guys you've never heard of who came over and did a job.

We need to pull our fingers out with the scouting network, it's been shit for years and low an behold we put a guy with a decent rep in place and it looks as it he's pissing off to Germany to become assistant manager to some no mark club.

We were sold a lie that our youth system was akin to Ajax's. I never fell for that bullshit but many did. Lerner for a start.

I would still like to know who convinced him that a reliance on the Academy products was the way forward.  It would have certainly suited someone like Kevin MacDonald to promote such an idea when he was in temporary charge of the side and involved with the first team, as it meant he would have been working with players that he worked with before and it would have reflected well on the job he was doing with the younger players at the club.

Aston Villa are blocking Darren Bent from joining their relegation rivals this month.

Reading and QPR have expressed an interest in the striker, who has struggled to get into the Villa team.

Bent may have to wait until the end of the season to leave – unless any clubs further up the table bid this month.

Villa are in a relegation battle with Reading and QPR, while Fulham may also be deemed too close for comfort.

Clubs are reluctant to pay a big fee for 28-year-old Bent, who joined Villa for £24million, because Paul Lambert’s men may get relegated.

Then the club will be forced to let one of their highest earners leave for a cut-price fee

Just sell him to Fulham now, we can't compete with the likes of the Fulhams of this world and we're skint. Lamberts made a right meal of the situation with Bent, hutton and Warnock. Devalued and demotivated the lot of them.

To be fair, those particular three were doing a good job of that themselves before Lambert even arrived at the club.

You're joking. Get him fit and get him into the team. We need goals and he scores them.

Club has nobody else to blame (PL,PF,RL). We knew we needed signings first day or so of the window. They chose to let us get into this mess now it will be even harder to recruit.

I think Lambert would flog him tomorrow to fund some signings. The question is how low would the fee be? 9m? 6m? Beyond the madness of selling a 20 goal a season striker to a relegation rival who would obviously do everything to ensure the team played to his strengths (something that lambert's resolutely refused to do), he's the only asset other than Benteke that could bring decent money in. Selling him could be lamberts last throw of the dice

If we're not going to play him, then sell him -- to the highest bidder, whether that's a relegation rival or not -- and reinvest the money wisely.

To stay up we need to focus on our own team, not to start worrying that other teams may not continue to be as shit as they have been. We can't control their performances or signings anyway.

When Bent first came he was fed by Young and Downing, no one of that calibre at the club anymore.

Stick or twist time for Lerner yet again. Stick and strong possibility that we're a goner. Seems to be a repetitive theme here now, spend when desperate to do so, when spending (more) in the first place wouldn't have seen us in this mess.

No idea how the club is run in terms of finance, wage bills, etc but in terms of actual football, it's getting worse. Bit by bit we are getting to the category of Wigan et al...just survival will do.

Lambert hasn't set the world on fire we all know that, but the problem lays much deeper and hiring and firing isn't going to change that.

Bent although he missed a sitter on Tuesday is a striker who knows where the net is , I feel if he been played when fit we would be better off than we are now- 17 goals in 22 games is a truly awful record considering the manager says he likes to play attacking football, bent has scored goals throughout his career yet is often on the bench as we miss chance after chance - benteke looks a great prospect but he has missed a lot of sitters this season - to sell bent and then get an injury to benteke would be a disaster.

@StanCollymore: Can someone in authority come out and say what the plan is at Villa pls. I'm struggling to see anything other than a white flag right now.
