Sacking Lambert in favour of Di Matteo would be madness IMO. However, he does need some player. The whole article is very loaded to get the headline from the group of journalists in fairness to Lambert. Who on here thought we could afford Lescott and Parker without taking big cuts on their wages? Fact is they are both 30 plus on massive, massive wages, and would cripple us financially. Of course we can't afford that. If we want 3-4 players this window, it is also clear we can't lay out upwards of 6m on each. We will, I am confident, spend more than 6 million net this Jan though.

I hope you are wrong Eastie as I can not see RDM working for Villa for little pay and no money to spend. That would be another financial disaster waiting to happen. Compensation for Lambert with more compensation when we sack RDM in May.

If it happened then Rdm would have to be and I think would be given money to spend but it may just be possible Lerner has huge doubts about lambert and if that were the case then he would hardly be giving him money to spend .

We know Lerner has the money and we know that we could lose a fortune going down - I can see no other reason for him not backing lambert financially.

It's widely known a so called itk predicted a week ago that Lerner was having serious doubts about lambert and for that reason wasnt giving him the money , he also predicted that today's game would be the tipping point and that Rdm was the top target in the summer and the long delay was waiting to see if Chelsea kept him or not , now rdm is available it may well be that randy is interested in him again - for what it's worth it was also said that rdm will be financially backed by randy .

Could of course all be bollocks but maybe it could be possible though - I think this is a huge game for lambert and we need a performance today - I hope we get the win and randy decides to give lambert the cash , but I fear the worst.

The thing is though Ozz, lambert was asked about lescott a couple of weeks ago and talked him up implying we could try and do something , yesterday he said such players are dreamland so what has changed in the last 10 days? Has Lerner pulled the rug from him?

The body language of lambert and his interviews recently have been very different to the man who arrived A few months ago- the other night he sat on the bench looking like a rabbit in the headlights and a man resigned to his fate.

Maybe it is true but I have a bad feeling about RDM, however I had a great feeling we had found the perfect boss in Lambert. I'd say I have as much clue in our direction as the chaps upstairs.

Lambert was my top choice too, and I think the majority of us , I did not envisage things being as bad as this though and the last month has been awful - I think he can still possibly turn it around but not without decent money .
Mcleish said how he discussed summer targets with Faulkner without  having the slightest inkling that he was going to be sacked , could lambert be about to go the same way?

Today will be a huge game for him.

Stopping money for relegation survival signings because you're unsure of the manager? Hmmmm...if that was the case you'd have to say its a matter of 'when' not 'if' he gets the tintack. Also you'd think Lambert would be aware of this lack of faifth in him and resign to save a bit of face before his reputation is trashed,.. I know there's a pay-off for him  to worry about but still.

Lambert might be sacked Monday and another Scottish manager in, King Kenny .

I know things are bad guys but RL wont be sacking PL quite yet

As depressing as that article comes across, at least Lambert knows we need to bring players in and is working on it. It sounds like he's got players in mind so it's just a case of seeing what happens.

The saddest thing about this whole situation is that we now accept that all we want to do is stave off relegation.
Fuck me, that's depressing.

In total desperation last night I thought the unthinkable which is bringing Hutton and Warnock back into the first team , am I the only one?

Lerner must spend that's as simple as that. Even he can't be stupid enough to want to miss that TV deal.

If we have no real money for replacements and no way of selling them, than this is ridiculous.

I'm not writing our young full backs off at all, but in some matches this year they would have been better subbed.
