With Vlaar back in training it takes away the urgency of signing a defender so maybe midfield will  be the target area for a new signing, or do people still feel we need another defender even if Vlaar will be fit?

I think so, if he gets injured again we're in deep shit. There's a reason why teams do not play two young central defenders together, and they pretty much always pair them up with more experienced one.

I suppose it depends what finances are available and who we are after in other areas , still seems all quiet on the dunne front , I'm starting to think we won't see him again in a villa shirt.

It seems strange to have put so much money into Dunne's rehab if we are just going to let him go in this window, especially as we are crying out for a bit of leadership and experience.  I think he'll be with us until the summer then he'll be off to burger camp with NY.

When does the mls  begin? I wonder if they would take him on a free and save us a few months paying his wage?

Unless someone else has been paying his rehab?

I don't think it does take the urgency away at all.

So you feel we still need another defender even if Vlaar is back Paul?

Absolutely for two reasons. Firstly Clark needs to be taken out of the firing line and I don't think Baker is up to starting week in week out. Secondly with Vlaar's injury record I wouldn't want to rely on him staying fit for the rest of the season.

I suppose better safe than sorry, I had been impressed with baker and thought with him back gongs would improve but I was shocked how poor he looked at bradford and Clark wasnt any better either, maybe one of the, alongside Vlaar would see things settle down a bit , but both are now  struggling for form at a crucial time.

Perhaps we could pick up another defender on loan as cover.

I think it would be madness to let Dunne go this window unless an experienced replacement is found but then I'd still be inclined to keep him until his contract expires in the summer. Couped to Vlaar back that would at least tighten up the defence, provide us with options and also give us the opportunity for Clark to cover the growing concern at left back should the need arise.

I think we need to sign a starting centre half. If Baker and Clark are good enough they'll force their way into the team, at the moment they're not.

Dunne hasn't been great since his 1st season under MON.

I think it may be worth us bringing in two. Baker picks up injuries easily and Vlaar may suffer a setback to his latest one. I know we can throw Lowton in there but it's not ideal.

Depending what money is available elsewhere, I think we need two midfielders for sure and one defender , although we may be able to do a couple of loan deals if money isn't available.

Vlaar won't be fit for tomorrow, but hopefully next week.

He'd get in the team at the moment surely. The problem is his never-ending injury.
