I can't see anyway possible that there would be none coming in - it would be financial suicide and mean almost certain relegation .

I still think he's waiting to see what Saturday brings and things will move after that , lambert has no chance without money and he must either be sacked or backed , keeping him and giving him no money would be crazy.

We can all see where the team needs strengthening .

What exactly is he waiting to see on Saturday ?

Get trounced like the Wigan game and I think he will pull the plug on him , draw or win and  he may give him some money for reinforcements . Just an opinion  but I wouldn't be surprised if randy is having serious doubts , after all he stands to lose more than anyone if we go down.

Randy Lerner needs to do whatever he feels is the best thing to keep aston villa in this division .

I'm not sure if he'll get the sack if we lose on Saturday. We were poor under TSM and Houiller and they were both given the whole season and they did'nt even reach a semi final of a cup, although they did'nt suffer heavy losses like Lambert has. It will turn nasty if we suffer another Wigan type defeat though.

Agree Eastie. If Southampton win it would be a major set-back and possibly the last real chance for Lerner to change things with still some time  for a new guy to get his players in

I can't see how if we win on Saturday Lambert suddenly becomes a good enough manager to keep on and given funds to spend, whearas if we lose he's rubbish and must be got rid of

Randy must by now either think he's the right man or is having massive doubts and looking for the best way out, which might be easier if we lost on Saturday to do, but it's a decision which has already been made

I think Randy is into Lambert for the long haul, I think there is a tipping point of no return, but we are not there yet, maybe if we lose the next 2 games and go out of the cup to Bradford we might be getting close, but that hasn't happened yet

Really cannot see Lerner getting rid of PL. He knows the fans are still with him and i can only think PL is in talks with several agents awaiting decisions ........

trouble is if the worse came to the worse and Lerner waited for that scenario what could a new guy possibly do? He'd certainly have to stick with the players he's got and i think everyone agrees we desperaterly need strengthening.

.

Im not sure either clampy but I think it's a possibility , there would be no point changing things after the transfer window , and there is  a huge amount at stake , far more than pride, not a time to hedge bets , he must either give him funds for two or 3 players or pull the plug.

If lambert does go then a new manager must be ready to step in quickly as with wolves and Saunders.

A repeat of the Wigan game would I believe be the tipping point.

We've had a poll on here which would indicate that Lerner will be turned on before Lambert.

Lerner has a thick skin , I'm sure he will be more worried about what needs doing in  keeping aston villa in this division than what fans think of him .

Whoever is manager money needs to be made available for new signings.

If lerner was worried about the fan's opinion, then last season wouldn't have happened. People went spare when managers were sacked during Ellis' time but he survived

It's very worrying that we havent been linked with anyone at all apart from this guy from Inter.  Almost every team is being linked with people every day apart from us.

If we lose Saturday I confidently expect the new manager of Aston Villa to be named by 19.00.

and I expect it to be Dean Saunders. He later commented 'I feel Ive taken Wolves as far I can go'

This follows their 8-0 drubbing of Blackburn Rovers on Friday night.

I am a little shocked we have not got a centre back in by now.

And Moussa Sissoko for 3.5 million when he is exactly what we need?

Truth is we need 4 this window, and 3 of them need to be big, strong and defensively sound. I am worried there is nothing yet.

In theory we can afford to blow £30 Million this January to stay up at theoretically no cost,

Because that is the extra TV money we will be getting next season isn't it? Our turnover next year will be around the 120-130 Million, lets hope we know what we are doing and there is a master plan.

Said it earlier, I think at least part of the problem is that we're having to address an area that we thought we were ok in.  We really shouldn't need to sign a central defender as we have 2 experienced internationals in the squad who should be able to bring through the promising youngsters.

I think he had a signing like Coutinho or Aubameyang lined up to be a big creative influence (and he went for Dempsey in the summer remember, so that money is probably still there) and he doesn't want to let that one go but is wanting to add the defender on top.

The extra defensive midfielder is the tough one because I don't really know what to think about that, maybe KEA has been a big disappointment, but if so will it be easy to get the board to fund a replacement for him after 6months?

I know it is a name that has been discussed consistently on here forever but the defensive midfield replacement I

would go for is NRC. Think he would jump at the chance to come back and would walk into our midfield, in fact he could hop

into our midfield on one leg. Can't imagine he is currently on

 huge wages either.
Moving on...

We are desperate, but we are trying to improve the quality. NRC is not that person by a long way ........

He isn't an improvement on the lightweights we have now? He isn't the most technically proficient footballer I agree but

atleast he gets a tackle in and may actually win the ball back. It's where we are now. We are leaking goals at an alarming

rate and have one if not the worst defences I have seen in the prem and putting Bannan, Ireland, Westwood or anything we

have at the moment in front of them is part of that.
