Gouffran is more of a wide player then an out-and-out striker I think. Would be ideal in a 4-3-3.

He's not just a striker though, he's a winger too.
Lambert likes versatility so I can imagine there may be something in this.

What I know about him:
He's fast as fuck, good with both feet, is scoring a few lately and... is allergic to grass.

Well that's just a reflection of modern hydroponically grown super skunk, it makes me cough, it makes my eyes turn red and my skin go pasty white too.

26 not yet selected for France at full level. Doesnt score often and looks like Bobby Zamora. Sounds about right. Hope he doesnt cost much.

and allergic to grass.. not a diver then!

There's got to be something in the water in Belgium if we're looking at bringing another one to the Prem

He's scored 1 in 2 more or less this season and not being selected for France means he's a bad player? Hardly.

As he is out of contract in Summer could it be more likely we are signing him a pre contract ?

Also 6 mil for a player out of contract who can go for nothing in 6 months seems steep.

I agree but Bent could still move this window so guess we might be covering ourselves early for that.

Yep priority has to be central midfield and also defence depending on when Vlaar is fit.

Possible I suppose but wouldn't him being cup tied reduce any fee?

Although If we did get gouffran then he can play out wide as a striker which would be useful , not sure where it would leave gabby though.

Lets wait and see if anything happens first though as we are not the only team interested according to reports.

Well I can see Newcastle being interested so being cup tied won't concern them! Maybe Fulham aswell after the replay.

I expect Bent to be back on the bench against Southampton so he could still easily leave this window. Think in our present situation I'd rather keep him until the summer.

Scored tomorrow night Bent will start against Southampton I reckon. Such an important game.

Gouffran would be nice as he appears to offer something different.

Kind of an upgrade on Gabby in terms of skill level.

12 million for Graham is as likely as us signing that Coutinho fella.

Who would you drop then Ozz, Beni or Weimann? I can't see three all starting on saturday tbh.

I think if N'zogbia plays well tommorrow, he'll certainly start on Saturday as the wide man of the three.

As I think I mentioned before, according to Comoli pretty much every player on the continent is up for sale.  They other leagues do not have the luxury of improved TV deals so they're faced by the economic reality of reducing commercial income and are looking to trim their squads/wages.  Sniejder is a good example of this and it also suggests Inter might be hurting more than most.  Basically I think the guy is probably available but whether he'd chose Villa is another matter but he did just spend a year on loan at a smallish spanish club so anything is possible.

I don't think we would be in for him Dante, it is very non- Villa to go for a player like that. I would love it, don't get me wrong, but I can''t see it at all.

Re Bent - if he has a good game tomorrow from the start, it would be very difficult to leave him out. Might start in front of the beast, who Lambert openly stated needs rest.

Non Villa? What does that mean? Lambert has had one window so his MO may well include a player like Coutinho.
We're talking about a promising 20 year old who is on the periphery of Inter's squad, not a top player yet. It's quite possible we're after him.

I'd love it. It would be such a boost, a welcome suprise. I think we need somthing like that.
Lambert went for Dempsey, an attacking midfielder/forward. He still has that money apparently and the role hasnt really been filled yet so why not bid for this kid?

Maz you are admirably always optimistic come transfer windows, and very bullish about who we can get, and while I would like to think we are in and have a shot, it just seems a bit more like the sort Spurs, or Liverpool would be signing than Villa. We are your work hard solid pros or over expensive done it in the prem players. I admit, Lambert showed a much welcome diversion from previous in the summer, but 10 million on a 20 year old Brazilian as good as he looks. Bridge too far for me, but as I said, I would be loving it if we could pull it off.
