Bordeaux striker Yoan Gouffran will join Aston Villa in a £6million deal. Gouffran almost made the move in the summer however, the deal collapsed at a late stage. Villa boss Paul Lambert is keen to strengthen his options up front and see’s the inform Frenchman as the ideal man to bring in. A friend close to Gouffran has said that talks are at an advanced stage and the move should be completed in the next week. Gouffran will give Lambert options as he can plays through the middle of out wide and should give Aston Villa a real cutting edge

Whilst not a priority for this window, he would be a useful addition!

There are more pressing matters than another forward. Unless they are adept at playing behind a front pair then not required at all in fact.

After some of the most inaccurate transfer rumours this summer, I'm only going to pay credence to Matt Kendrick (poor match reports, good transfer gossip accuracy, albeit normally about 24 hours before they sign) and not much else.

Graham's a good player. But he's not a £12m player and it's hardly the position to splurge all our cash

Not sure about the earlier fee quoted as hes out of conract so i would assume £6m is way over the mark-

Bordeaux striker Yoann Gouffran has again touted himself to England.

The 26 year-old is off contract in June and interesting Aston Villa, Fulham and Everton.

"For the moment, we are in discussions with the president. We will see in the coming days. For now, there is nothing certain. I want to taste a little the English league to find something else.

"The bids must be adequate, with a good challenge. I want to play," said Gouffran.

"It may be time to find something else. I have friends in England who told me about this championship and it really makes you want to play there."

Bordeaux president Jean-Louis Triaud confesses Yoan Gouffran is likely to leave.

The French striker is off contract in June and wanted by Fulham and Aston Villa in January.

Triaud conceded: "There is an ongoing discussion. He's been made a proposal for an extension, and once he accepts or rejects it, we will notify all of the decision.

"Do not forget that he had already extended it by one year. And we cannot force people to do what they do not want to do! And it is not about money because whatever our proposal, it will be taxed at 75%. This is the case for all players from €80,000 in salary."

I'd have thought we were pretty much covered up front personally .

I agree but Bent could still move this window so guess we might be covering ourselves early for that.

Yep priority has to be central midfield and also defence depending on when Vlaar is fit.

Possible I suppose but wouldn't him being cup tied reduce any fee?

Although If we did get gouffran then he can play out wide as a striker which would be useful , not sure where it would leave gabby though.

Lets wait and see if anything happens first though as we are not the only team interested according to reports.

Don't think so as any club would sign him for 3.5 years so probably not worry about one season's FA Cup.

I think Lambert prefers versatile players upfront who can create and score, such as Weimann and Gabby who can play up top or behind/wide.  Bent isn't that, but Grouffan is.

He's not just a striker though, he's a winger too.
Lambert likes versatility so I can imagine there may be something in this.

What I know about him:
He's fast as fuck, good with both feet, is scoring a few lately and... is allergic to grass.
