Also it is a player that makes you sit up and take notice and maybe get extra tickets sold to see a good player. Whether Coutinho will sign for us and be the above player is another matter.
Pretty unlikely to be honest. You'd imagine the FSW might have an interest if the palyer is available.

Coutinho? Is he better than his Portugese cousin Moutinho? Why aren't better clubs in for him?

How many players are Chelsea going to lash out on under a temporary manager?  Especially as they are out of Europe and out of the title chase....

That was my first thought, but I'm also aware that they already have Oscar, Ramirez, hazard and Mata for the attacking midfielder positions and a 25 man limit on the squads. He will probably end up in Spain though.

It just seems unlikely what with our current position in the league and our historic reluctance to sign anyone remotely exotic. Such a shame though as I don't know about you but I still see football as a form of entertainment and he looks like he could provide entertainment in bucket loads.

8 million? Sheesh, that's what we paid for Delph!

Lee was a quality player before his injury.

I believe this window comes down to us signing a decent centre half (I would love Lescott but think Dawson would be a more realistic target) and an experienced central midfielder (again Scott parker would be excellent but think he'll be playing for Spurs again soon as he's been injured for months).

Those two or players of that standard in and no chance of relegation, we'd win the 5-6 games required to stay up no problem.

I think we need a creative midfielder as well, minimum.

Bent playing and scoring and looking happy with the would would save us buying a forward and paying over the odds in January. Benteke, Weimann, NZogbia if playing up top and Bent you would think any side at the bottom end would kill to have at their disposal, and I have seen signs from NZogbia under Lambert that he might just be worth working with.

Biggest thing for me is 2 centre backs if Dunne leaves, and a holding midfielder. A creative, exotic forward midfielder to allow Ireland to be long forgotten would be lovely.

From the beeb:

TRANSFER LATEST
Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott has ben linked with a move away from the club this month but the 30-year-old England international is going nowhere.

In a statement released on Lescott's behalf by the player's spokesman tonight, it is clear he wants to remain with City.

"Joleon Lescott has ruled out the possibility of any loan move during the January transfer window," said the statement.

"Despite speculation linking him with several Premier League clubs, Joleon has no desire to leave Manchester City."

Two midfielders and a centre back will be enough if bent stays.

A dominant, experienced centre back is a must, two if Plasticine Ron's mysterious injury doesn't clear up and Dunne buggers off Stateside.  Then we need a midfielder who can tackle and organise the troops.
