I'm still not sure about this £30k limit. If for the sake of argument Clint Dempsey had turned down Spurs and joined us in the summer, i think we would offered him more than £30k a week.

I think Ozzjim has it, it's probably 30k a week average. But the fact we still have Ireland, Warnock, Dunne, Given, Hutton and Bent means there is no room for anybody else to earn more than 30k.

If we survive this year we will be in a very healthy position, but it's a big IF.

30k average maybe,  top players want top wages and I think we will make exceptions for that . We must attract quality in January.

Hasn't it recently been stated that the wage bill is now at a manageable level?  When you factor in that the players in bold (bar Hutton) and Gabby (maybe even N'Zogbia) are all on around £50,000 pw or over, it shows that we can have a sustainable wage bill and afford to pay big wages.  What we desperately need to do is got some of the higher earners off the wage bill asap to free up some money.

Lescott would be a good signing, don't believe the bullshit about him not being able to come back to Brum, he's back most weekends.

Robbie Keane should have been training with us (like Henry is with Arsenal) in preparation for his loan.

NRC - yes, should have got him back in the summer. I'd also take Barton, the horrible ******.

Anichebe would be useful and gettable too I reckon.

Don't know about Anichebe, never really been that impressed to be honest. Keane would make a huge difference though.

There is room to bring some players in with those leaving or not wanted. The problem is are the players we want / need available?  Fees & wages don't guarantee anything, Ireland's weekly wage is probably the equivalent of Benteke, Westwood, Bennett & Lowton,

Newcastle have agreed a deal for the Lille right back.

Danny Simpson worth a punt for a million to compete with Lowton at right back and give more options at the back. Better than Lichaj who I think has been found out a lot this season. Options at right and left back are needed in time IMO.
