I see no sense whatsoever in loaning Guidetti unless there's an option to buy in there somewhere.

Guidetti loan would provide more forward cover and probably mean that Bent could leave .Lambert would then have more funds to reinforce other areas.Makes sense to me.With Citeh's resources ,Guidetti might not get enough game time in future and once he's experienced the privilege of pulling a claret and blue shirt...who knows ?

Anybody know anything about Chris Woods , Millwall striker on loan from the Baggies?

Scored 2 against Brighton last night and is regarded highly by Gus Poyet....worth a punt at a mil?.

As a NZer I'd love this. Strong and skilful. In my mind he's a a bit like Weimann, and does a lot of work off the ball which would be the sort of thing Lambert would be into I'd think. He's been out on loan a lot, and kept up a fairly good goalscoring record, if memory serves. Just a question if he can do it consistently in top flight.

Edit: typos, doh.

This issue I would have with Chris Woods is that he is a target man, but not in the same class as The Beast or Andi Weimann. He is still young though (around 21) and has started to really develop his game in the past couple of years. He will carry on improving, but so will Benteke and Weimann.

I saw Guidetti play a few times for Feyenoord and he is a very good player. However, I'm in two minds over a loan deal. On the one hand if he helps us improve our scoring and league position it would be great, but on the other hand, it would come at the cost of Weimann's development and we'd certainly lose him back to Citeh at the end of the loan deal.

Villa are also lining up a £1m move for Crystal Palace striker Glenn Murray, 29. With 20 goals this season, Murray is the Championship's top scorer and his former Eagles manager Dougie Freedman, now Bolton boss, is keen to take him even further north.

That link seems so at odds with everything we've seen that I can't decide whether it's nonsense or if it being so far outside PLs previous deals makes it more likely as there is no logical reason to make it up...

Yeah, exactly. As much as I'd personally like my football worlds to come together, I don't really see much value in it for Aston Villa or Woods - he'd just end up being what he is now, a good backup to the first choice players.

I like the look of Yannick Bolasie there , talking to my palace season ticket holder father in law , he has been raving about him too.

I'm all in favour for us bringing in another striker, especially as Bent will be off. I hope it's at Gabby's expense and not Weimanns.

We're building for the future, but the club won't be adverse to spending 1 million, if he improves
us in the short term. That's how I'd look at it. That being said its probably B.S

If Guidetti has a good half season with us and goes back we might get favourable terms for a cast off - possibly Milner? Who I think would do a good job alongside our youngsters and add experience. Or even that one with a fat arse!

Can we get a word filter for our former square jawed Geordie midfielder who took the money and ran North?  I'm frankly fed up of having to pointlessly read his name and at least a filter would give me some light relief for the first month or so.

Downing would probably regard being called a Geordie the biggest insult of all.
A bit like calling Gary Neville a scouser!
If you are referring to Milner he's from Leeds which is even further from geordieland.
