I don't think any player looks at themselves (or their ability) as objectively as that.
They've made it as professionals by backing themselves. I'm sure Chicarito signed for United
because he thought he'd establish himself as a first team player. He didn't sign up thinking "crikey I'm never
gonna get a game here in front of Rooney Owen Berbatov etc".

Don't forget the 'big' clubs buy up the young up and coming talent so that the selling club is weakened and any threat is neutered.

Don't worry so much. As long as there is fairly equitable distribution of domestic and world TV rights, we can be successful. As they increase, match-day and Champions League income will become gradually less significant. Let's not forget that for years, Liverpool maintained their position in the top four through borrowing, and Citeh and Chelsea bought their way in, in a way that might not be allowed in future.

The key to our future is Lambert's carrying on as he's started and the academy.

I wouldn't bank on CL money becoming particularly less significant, it might not go up as much as domestic, shared TV revenues will, but it's still a huge amount of money.  It's also not just about having the cash, it is also about playing in that league and the effect this has on being able to attract the better players.

Good point about the sharing of domestic and world TV rights. If that ever changed, the inequality situation would get much worse.

Lambert is doing great job plus our excellent academy. Together with adjustment and more financial backing we could go very very far. We doesn't need to spend billions. I think a certain Doug Ellis would love Paul Lambert as Villa manager while he is in charge.  Could we see a blockbuster signing in near future ?

Some great points there Percy. Really dont think any players that will cost massive fee`s and wages sit comfortable wilth PL. Think he wants that young and hungry factor early when he signs them and his philosophy and hard work ethic  is installed .......

Without a doubt. Probably one of the signings that excited me the most in the Ellis era. Apart from Collymore.

Proving that life under Elllis never provided real pleasure. The creator of Aston Manor lager could only be keener on profit than people.

Anybody know anything about Chris Woods , Millwall striker on loan from the Baggies?

Scored 2 against Brighton last night and is regarded highly by Gus Poyet....worth a punt at a mil?.

As a NZer I'd love this. Strong and skilful. In my mind he's a a bit like Weimann, and does a lot of work off the ball which would be the sort of thing Lambert would be into I'd think. He's been out on loan a lot, and kept up a fairly good goalscoring record, if memory serves. Just a question if he can do it consistently in top flight.

Edit: typos, doh.

Shame he is on such a long term deal there. As such I would sooner buy someone than develop someone ahead of Weiman.
