Gabby is strong and can hold the ball up. He can sort of cover most of what a target man does but is not technically speaking, a target man. As Dante said, he's probably good enough to not require buying a target man specifically.
Then again, if you can find another player like Benteke who can be a target man, a link man and the focal point of the attack (and why not, we've already done so relatively cheaply) then great.
Maybe Bowery has more capabilty in this role than we know?

Playing two such players would be hilariously amazing. Imagine two Bentekes up front?
However, loving the Benteke/Weimann partnership and the potential of it. They're both having the time of their life and its a pleasure to watch.
There is a nice balance to it too. It could be Withe and Shaw all over again. Or maybe Benteke is Withe and Shaw combined and Weimann adds a bit extra.

Gabby can't hold the ball up because his technique is poor.He hasn't done it for the last 4 years, so i don't see why he would start doing it now, thats why he has bought the lad from Lincoln.

Hernandez wouldn't replace Weimann, he would replace Gabby.Although i think Kone, or even Odewinge would'nt be bad shouts either. The lad Wells from Bradford might be worth a gamble as well.

I like Trotter of Millwall but another is midfielder James Henry who we could  target as he is out of contract in summer. sort of young creative midfielder to go for.

We were linked with James Henry a few days ago - http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11677/8329705/Transfer-news-Premier-League-clubs-tracking-Millwall-midfielder-James-Henry

His contract expires in June 2014 - he signed an extension in the summer.

Andy King from Leicester is another Championship player who plays in the attacking midfield role, though I think he has regressed a little after suffering a couple of bad injuries.

We need to sort out midfield firstly though and possibly a replacement for Dunne and we'll be in good shape. For me, Delph isn't good enough in midfield. Think we need another body there. Replacements for the erratic Ireland and CNZ would also be good. We could do with some creativity, particularly for home games. Holman was brilliant against Liverpool. His impact was good, in a game where we needed that work rate. But in matches where we dictate things, I think a more deft of touch player is required, who can pick out a defence splitting pass and make runs beyond the forwards.

I know he is 30, but I have been really impressed with Wes Hoolahan (thought he was very good when we played Norwich at home this season) and if rumours about him being out of contract at the end of the season are true, then he could be a good addition in the attacking midfield role.

I thought I heard yesterday that he has signed a new 3 year deal.

I know he probably wouldn't leave Newcastle for us but if we continue to play 3-5-2, then I would love to see Santon in our LWB position.

I'd like Shane Long at Villa. He's hardworking, movements great and he knows where the net is. Wonder if the Baggies would swap for Bent?

Much prefer our forwards to be honest. If there's one Baggies player I would take it would be James Morrison, excellent attacking midfielder.

I wouldn't mind Mulumbu either. With the added bonus that when he's not playing he could wear a dirty mac and solve crimes.

Yeah he's a very good player. I'd really like us to go for Adam Lallana in that position.

Me too, I think Bennett will be nicely suited to playing it and will prove to be a good signing.

The City fans I know all say he has gone backwards significantly and get's far too much coverage for his ability.
