Why couldn't we get either of them in January?

We'll probably have a bit of money to spend and represent a big step up.
Money talks.

Depends on how much money is available in January Maz, but they would both cost a fairly hefty fee (some papers have quoted £20m for Zaha) and I think central midfield (and even further defensive options) should be a priority for a permanent signing.  I agree we need another wide option, but I am hopeful that N'Zogbia will start producing and help us out in that area.  Agree with the last bit though and think we would be a good move for either of them.

£20m for Zaha? I think he'd have to play more than a few games in the top flight before commanding that sort of fee.
I wouldn't pay anything like half that and I daresay nobody else would either.

However, if we are quoted that sort of price or anything like it for those sort of players then we just go abroad and get value.
I've no problem with that. It could only be a couple of years before Graham and Grealish come of age so there's no point breaking the bank for Zaha before he's proven anything.
The whole point of shopping in the lower leagues is that it represents value if you're brave enough to speculate.

Sincalir's not actually very good.  He's had one good season at Swansea.  Prior to Swansea he's had around 10 different clubs.

Henderson's garbage.  See Steve Sidwell.  I'd rather have Downing back, and thats an insult.

There's a rumour doing the rounds, that Scott Parker could be available on loan.

What about Tim Cahill and Emmanuel Frimpong? Cahill on loan, and Frimpong on a permant deal.

After watching quite a bit of Ligue 1 football on ESPN, I really like the look of Arnold Muvemba, of Lyon.  Defensive midfielder from Congo. He looks a biger mold of Makoun.

I'd really like Makoun back too.  His passing game under Lambert could be ideal.

Yeah, I can't see what the fuss is about with Sinclair either.

I think the £20m pricetag was mentioned in one of the tabloids Maz so is invariably way off the mark.  I rate both Zaha and Ince and I'm sure they will both be Premiership players by next season, biut if I was to choose one for us then I'd go for Ince as he scores more goals.  I don't see much of the Blues, but Nathan Redmond has looked good on the few occasions I saw him play last season, but I'm not sure how he is doing this season.

I agree with you about the lower leagues and you only have to look at Lowton and Westwood to see that the quality is there if you are willing to look hard enough.

Guess who's looking at Stephen Warnock:

http://www.burndenaces.co.uk/2012/12/06/sunderland-to-rival-bolton-for-warnock.html

Only MON would pay £2m for a player that will be out of contract in 6 months' time.

Yes, though he'll probably settle for £3m though;-)

Zaha would cost a bomb. The ox and theo were both double digits weren't they? And zaha has done more than they had. Can't see this one happening

Incidentally, from what I've seen graham looks much more likely to make it than grealish. Not sure what grealish really has to trouble top players tbh.

A right footed, dependable centre back, a left back, a central midfielder with energy and strength and someone who can play up front, off the striker or wide with a good scoring record would be ideal.

Only doable I we sell bent and invest some I think. There must be some players on cash strapped Spanish clubs we could bring in you'd have thought

Others will have seen more of him. But he looks a bit one paced to me. Not sure what his outstanding attribute as a winger would be. Hopefully I'm wrong. Though I seem to recall Mazrim rating quite a few of our youngsters as outstanding, who haven't really ripped up any trees . .

Agree, Theo was 12 mill 6 years ago and Chamberlain 15 mill, so I'd imagine Ince and Zaha would command in excess of this.  I think they and Phillips are out of our range now, they have had too much exposure, we will be looking at the next level down imo, i.e. players we have never heard of, like Bowery, Westwood, Lowton etc.
