I just don't see the link with QPR. Harry didNt seem to get Bent working at Spurs and I don't see in a million years villa selling a proven goal scorer to a club who could go down instead of us at the end of the season.

You seem to forget that the two clowns Lerner and Faulkner are in charge, so bet on Bent going to QPR in January!!

Sure I'll take some of that action, how much do you want to bet?

The Darren Bent/QPR talk started while Mark Hughes was still in charge.  I don't know if there was any truth in it, but I'd say even if there was it's dead now that 'arry has turned up there!

Bent needs to understand that none of the bigger teams want him, and money is slim pretty much elsewhere. if he isn't pulling his weight then he needs to sharpen up his act fast. I would love to see him our there but he has to be focused and while someone like Gabby or Weimann aren't even close to the finisher that Bent is, watching them giving it all for pretty much 90 minutes makes you realise where we are and what we have to do to get out of the shit we're in. We really need him quality right now, but also need his attitude to be spot on.

Players need healthy ambition and drive to play, I hope Bent has that but going to the press to complain that he wasn't chosen for the game might implicate other way. Who knows, maybe Lambert is kinda testing him on how Bent reacts when he isn't chosen to play as he seems to want healthy competition for spots between players.

Yah I would. £10million for bent or the money lost from not being in the premiere league next season. No brainer.

Bent as been commented before is Fulham bound if he leaves in January.

How is selling our only proven goal scorer to save us from relegation a no brainer? Especially when nobody else is scoring. Madness. It's actually quite embarrassing that he isn't being played in any capacity, given our current situation

Could they afford the wages of both Bent and Berbatov at once?  Also not sure how it would work footballing wise as you have too strikers who won't be willing to do the running for the other one!

Don't mean to be argumentative, but have you seen Bent when he has featured this season?  He has scored a couple of goals, but just isn't suited to the current formation we are playing.  We need someone who will put themselves about, hold the ball up and win flick ons.  Bent doesn't do any of that, so I think Lambert's justified in his decision not to play him.

If we were getting results and scoring goals I would agree with you,but we're not. To not have a proven goal scorer on the bench when you are paying him astronomical wages, is not really doing the best for Aston Villa. Look at what happened when he came on against West Brom.I think he could have won the game against Arsenal for us too Lambert is saying there's no rift,so what's the problem?

Maybe he looks shit in training and can't be arsed putting it in, but is perfectly amenable, so indeed there is no rift.

Maybe the formation could be changed to suit the players we have - at least until we consolidate our position in the PL?  We aint going to win many unless we have someone putting the ball in the net consistently.  Whilst I rate Benteke and Weimann, Bent is the only player we have who has shown he can do that.

What you are really saying is maybe the formation can be changed to suit Bent though, which is crackers at the moment as it would totally unbalance the side we have found in the last few games to look a bit better. We need 3 in the middle. Bent can't play wide, and Benteke offers way more in a loan striker role. So you swap what Benteke brings team wise out for Bent, and do they still function as well? Maybe.. worth a try as a sub coming into that role on 60 minutes for sure, but Benteke deserves the shirt at the moment.

He's only been fit for a week though and tweeted(I know) That he was feeling fit, sharp and looking forward to the weekend. How shit would he have to be to not earn a place on the bench. Especially given his excellent record against Arsenal. I just can't see how dropping him and putting Bowery on the bench can be seen as doing the best for Aston Villa in our current position

Probably bollocks, as always, but there are a few places on the internet saying he might be going out on loan to Liverpool, with an option to buy in the summer.

http://sportsnewsireland.com/soccer/soccer_irish/aston-villa-set-to-loan-darren-bent-to-liverpool-26112012/

Not ideal, if true, but if he's not getting games here we could do worse than send him off to score goals against relegation contenders with another team.
