I love someone to come on and do what hendandez did to us a couple of weeks ago.
Someone like Bent?
Sorry, but as much as like DB I doubt he could have done that
I think he could have won the game for us on Saturday had he been bought on as an impact sub.Towards the end of the match Arsenal were flagging and we were getting stronger.

as far as an impact sub he would be my third choice behind Benteke and Gabby..

sorry just don't see him performing that sort of role at all, you either play him from the start and hook him if it's not working

I think the key thing is you need that player to be happy with their role in the side.  I don't think Bent would ever be happy playing the supersub role, despite the fact that his abilities would lend themselves well to it.

ASTON VILLA TRANSFER NEWS
Like it or lump it: Lambert outlines £22m Darren Bent's future in Villa reserves

25 Nov 2012 22:33
The Dazzler didn't even make the bench for snore-draw with Arsenal – as boss paves way for January exit for rejected England star

Surplus to requirements: Darren Bent of Aston Villa
Neville Williams
Paul Lambert signalled the end of Darren Bent’s Villa career after telling the England striker he is now just a squad player.

Bent was furious after being left out again and this time did not even make the bench as Villa failed to score against Arsenal. Former Chesterfield rookie Jordan Bowery, a bargain £1m signing, was preferred on the bench as back-up to first choice striker Christian Benteke.

Bent is now desperate to get away in January and Lambert has now made their fractured relationship even worse by insisting the £22m record signing can like it or lump it.

When quizzed on choosing Bowery over Bent, Villa boss Lambert said: “That’s my decision. I’m the man that picks the team. Listen, it’s my choice and I’ve 26, 27 lads that I have to look after.

Hard line: Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has put Darren Bent in his place
Alex Livesey

“Everybody’s in it together and I need everybody in it together. I know the disappointment when you don’t play, I know I was dropped about five million times, but that’s the nature of the game.

“If you could pick everybody you would. Darren’s still part of it but I've got 25, 26 guys to take care and think of.

“Darren’s fine. There’s nothing at all. The most important thing is Aston Villa Football Club.”

Doesn't matter what the source is if these are direct quotes attributed to lambert.

I'm firmly with Lambert on this. Bent hasn't played nearly well enough. He's been out injured and needs to win his place back. Weimann, Gabby, Benteke are all playing reasonably well. I think we've been unlucky too. A bit of luck and any of them (less likely Gab) could go on a scoring run.
But for me Gabby and Weimann's workrate has been brilliant. Think their places are warranted. We're in a position too where we really need 11 players busting a gut and in the game. We can't carry Bent right now because he could do nothing for 80 minutes. Granted he might nick a goal, but even in that regard he's looked a long way from his sharpest. Similarly it's why Ireland is in and out the side, he plays in patches during games. 10 good minutes here and there on a good day.

God help us If Benteke  gets injured because a front line of gabby and Weimann is not good enough .

Apparently anyone costing ONLY £1,000,000 , yes ONE MILLION POUNDS, is a bargain these days even if the player is no where near  playing a first team game.

Wasn't Bowery something like 500k max?

I just don't see the link with QPR. Harry didNt seem to get Bent working at Spurs and I don't see in a million years villa selling a proven goal scorer to a club who could go down instead of us at the end of the season.

If the money is right I doubt randy would object to who he goes to- its up to us to avoid relegation not worry about what other clubs are doing.

I have no doubt both villa and qpr will be safe.

If I was a betting ,an I'd say bent is Fulham bound.

I don't think Bent will be sold in January and I think we'll sign another forward.

I think Weimann as an out and out forward is a great option. He scores with both feet and his head. I think he could be lethal through the middle.
