It worries me that Lambert is changing too much too soon. If N'Zogbia, Given, Dunne, Warnock and Hutton were all to leave in Jan to to be replaced by a load of 22 year-olds untried in the Premier League I'd be pretty pissed off. We would have fuck-all left in terms of experience.
Erm, we had this "experience" last year and we nearly got bummed down to the league below.  At least we are playing some good stuff now, and enjoying going to the game, and the threat of actually getting a result.

We need as many good players as possible.

I am pleased that Lambert wants to finally increase the size of the squad.

We've been an honest bunch of lads, with a small squad, for the past 8 years.

As I've just said in the relegation thread...

We need 3 players like Jonas Olsson, Scott Parker and Kevin Nolan.

Fuck me, Kevin Nolan? Even we aren't that desperate are we?

I don't think we'd get Parker, but as an aside, what has happened to him? Is he injured?

Not while MON was here. That was the problem. A big squad not being used properly.

Injured, and has been for a while I think. Would be a good shout though.

Wow!
I was worried about the quality of signings we might be after in January, but now I know we're on the trail of Hull's James Chester, I can breathe easier.

The law of averages means that one day one of these lower league players we sign will be the dogs bollocks.

The trouble is we may have to step in a lot more dog shit to get that player.

James Chester played on loan at my local team Carlisle and he was very very good lads, Didn't Ryan Shawcross leave Man Utd to get games? I bet if we were linked to him a few of you would be happy, Chester is a good young player and thats the type of player were looking at now.

I think you will find that Ashley Westwood will prove to be that player.

I think so too. I also think Lowton looks a very good player.

I really like what i've seen of Lowton so far, he's made me forget we ever had Hutton.

i think if we did sell Bent and used his fee and wages to fund a bid for Milner i dont think it would be out of question for him to be tempted,

i dont know why i say that, i just think we would have a chance even though all signs would point to it being a no no.

he's been at City and won the league now but he looked like the odd man out when celebrating as he wasnt a part of the first team, and i reckon his chances will get fewer and fewer as City spend more and more, and i acept they will lose ya ya which would be a spanner, but i just get a feeling

i'm not saying it would be a certainty by any strech just worth a go, you never know

Regarding the comparison between Chester and Shawcross, hasn't Shawcross been part of the Stoke first team for years? And wasn't he bedded in out of the glare of a relegation struggle?

I'm not against the idea of Chester, and I don't think others are either, it's just that we recognise the lack of steel and experience in the squad in general and are hoping for something a bit more reassuring than a link to a Championship defender.
