Milner's not an idiot, why would he want to come to relegation candidates?
He's way out of our league now.

On loan to get some game time? Benefits us, him and Man Citeh.
It's not like he has to stay and share the delights of the Second Division if we go down is it?

Milner gets his fair share of game time at city and is still a valuable member of their squad, they have no need to off load him and I can't see them letting him go.

James Chester from Hull? http://soc.li/S5I1WaC
Well, that article says alot about Lambert.
Would he risk another 23 year old without EPL experienece?  - his quote here says it all: "Would I sign experienced players? It’s not something I’ll turn away from. If they have got the right attitude to go and do it, and they fit into the group, then I’d look at that."
The implication is that he is looking to young potential whom he can mould. Even now, with us in the bottom three.

The man has cahoonas, you gotta say that.

The James Chester link looks like Dunne may have played his last game for us, and certainly won't be offered an extension when his contract runs out next summer. I'd rather be hearing about links to dominant midfielders rather than centre backs at the minute tbh

A player doesn't have to be old to be experienced. You can have an experienced 24 year old, but they need to have been playing at a suitable level.

His cahoonas wont be there for long if things don't get sorted. I do think he willget it right though.

It worries me that Lambert is changing too much too soon. If N'Zogbia, Given, Dunne, Warnock and Hutton were all to leave in Jan to to be replaced by a load of 22 year-olds untried in the Premier League I'd be pretty pissed off. We would have fuck-all left in terms of experience.

What did the named players contribute ,save Given, when they had a chance...soonest gone all the better, hopefully to be replaced by better ones though

Those fans who keep pining for Milner it is NOT going to happen. He is an England international , playing reguarly for the champions and is he leaves he will go to a team in top 6.

He is not an Adam Johnson

I don't mind the idea of signing the likes of Adam Chester but the side is crying out for an experienced centre half and a leader in centre mid. Without these we will continue to struggle.

No chance on Milner. If he became available there'd be no shortage of better placed teams who'd want him. Especially on loan. Pubehead would be in like a shot. More appealing, probably Moyes, Liverpool, Arsenal who look like they could use some of that guile and determination of Milner. Basically there'd be about 12 teams higher than us who'd take him.

We need experience+quality. But we definitely need more experience. You need players who know how to scrape out results and have been and done it. Reliable players too.

Milner's not coming back the right side of 30.  The Citeh fans at work love him. He plays reguarly and they are due to lose Yaya Toure for the African Nations.  With Javier Garcia out of form and Jack Rodwell injured. there is no way they will lose anybody.

I do think he will come back for a stint at some point though.

I dont get the Milner love in. He's a very good player. I thought it was great when we had him, and would like someone of his quality in our team now. But it isn't just that with some people, its like he was some kind of hero. In reality, he was a great player for us for two years and left at the drop of a hat (when we had just finished 6th for the third time, and were no mugs) to sit on the bench and rake money in rather than play for us.

It isn't going to happen for many reasons, but the stand outs are that he is too good for where we are right now, and doesn't have any more affection for us than he would Newcastle, who he also used to play for for a bit.

I'd save Dunne from that too. He is still the best centre half on our books IMO. Not convinced with quicksand Ron. Granted, Clark and Baker could become better in the long run.

As I've just said in the relegation thread...

We need 3 players like Jonas Olsson, Scott Parker and Kevin Nolan.
