I'd hope not as Gordon doesn't have a club at the moment.

Gordon wouldn't be a bad number two on a free; his wages will be comparatively low and we've had worse.

I wonder where Shay is heading then? QPR?

Doubt it Maz. They've got that Julio Cesar bloke who's really quite good. Can't think of many cluhs who'd take on his age and salary. Celtic comes to mind if the sell the keeper they've got who's had a blinder in the CL.

He's potentially very good. Very tall, great reflexes, calm and commands his area. Was also part of the Swiss team that won the U17 world cup a few years back.
Still very young but I'd expect him to be number 2 at least in a couple of years if he continues as he is.

The Swiss are meant to be the new Belgium with regards to having the next batch of promising youngsters coming through.
We should get him to ask a few of his mates to join villa.

Can't really see why gordon would be of interest to us ,unless of course shay has intimated that he would like to leave, he would struggle to get near these wages but maybe just wants to play football at this stage in his career.

Can someone remind me how many millions it was rumoured we were going to pay for him a few years back?

Strange how many chose to believe that we were going to pay millions for Gordon, McGeady and Keane, and pennies for Cabaye and other assorted superstars, when we have no idea if any of it is true.

His spectacular fall from grace is a bit mysterious.

Gordon's Fall from Grace has been because of his injuries which is why it's hard for him to find a club.

We know that we were going to pay something less than £9m for Gordon as O'Neill has admitted that we made a bid that wasn't as much as Sunderland eventually paid. And both Houllier and Cabaye have said he would have been here if Houllier had stayed.

We do have a tendency to pay over the odds, so there's certainly nothing to say that we were planning on buying him for as little as Newcastle eventually paid though.

I think you're right on the other two in that nobody involved has confirmed one way or the other.

I'm sure it was £8.5m.  By using the Martin O'Neill Multiplier, it means he was only really worth £4m.

Reading and Southampton are the only likely Premier League destinations for Given I think. The rest aren't looking for a 'keeper.
